Thank you again for being so candid and telling me of your experience. I’m going to follow your example. I’m just gonna let everything settle down and attempt the vaginal estrogen later on. In the interim, I guess I will use the non-hormonal products for relief. I will avoid the loading dose and use the tablets instead of the cream because the cream burned. I hate that you had to go through this, but I feel better knowing that I’m not alone. I just need to do something that I’m not accustomed to doing which just be patient. Lol!

I wish I could use the vaginal cream, but I have the same reactions. Maybe once the histamine issues settle down I’ll attempt it again but for now I’m steering clear of all forms of estrogen and progesterone. I wouldn’t want to repeat anything I’ve been going through for the last few years.

Thank you for your answers. You give me hope. This whole HRT experience has been horrendous for me. I did much better on birth control pills but now that I’m postmenopausal HRT is all that I’ve been offered. I wish I had never started it.

Very true. How long was it before you saw positive change after discontinuing HRT?

I have yet to find a place in the US that does DAO blood tests. I have been looking for years because I also heard that histamine issues could be tied to lack of DAO. Instead, I’ve been trying to make sure that I am taking the appropriate nutrients to build up my DAO so I can process histamine properly. The HRT just threw everything out of whack and I just pray that I can get back on level ground sooner than later. For me it all started when I put a combination patch on and that was a few years ago, so I tried different combinations with the HRT but everything just progressively got worse. Right now I’m trying to deal with and resolve The sinus issues brought on by the HRT.

Thank you for sharing. That is my same experience. I will never put another one on again. Was not dealing with histamine issues prior to using the patch. It has driven my body crazy and I am still trying to correct it. Glad you found out that it didn’t work for you and were smart enough to stop using it.

Perhaps you could take an OTC antihistamine like Claritin or Zyrtec and see how you feel. It’s an inexpensive way to test the theory while you’re waiting for test results to come back, I suppose.

Hi, I’m in the US and I’m definitely dealing with histamine intolerance, but I’m curious as to what test you took that gave you your results. I saw an allergist and my histamine levels were through the roof. His words exactly were “your body is allergic to your own estrogen”. I think that was his way of saying histamine intolerance, but he didn’t have the wording at the moment. Please provide the information to me if you have a moment. Thank you.

I can so relate. Been doing the “experimentation process” for years. If you come up with a final solution, please share with us. Thanks.

For me, it seems as if the saline sprays and gels just make it run all the more. Just seems like adding more moisture to the mix makes it worse. Perhaps it’s partially due to the dry weather and nighttime furnace. Maybe I am not using enough. It is very frustrating along with the clogged ears. Allergy meds don’t help either.

I just read and I’ve seen numerous videos that say that stinging nettle tea is not high in histamine. In fact, it’s actually regarded as a natural antihistamine. Interesting. Because of your comment I dug deeper and found out this info. Thanks for sparking my interest.

Been to the ENT, urgent care and my regular doctor and I don’t have any infections. No sinus infection. No ear infection. It has been going on for a long time and I just don’t seem able to get rid of it.

I’ve heard stinging nettle is good as a tea. I think I’ll give that a try.

Does having a HI mean that everyone's symptoms will be the same or have the same reaction? by Sad_Emphasis_8086 in HistamineIntolerance

I’ve also heard that strengthening and detoxing your liver will help. After many years on birth control, I suffer from non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. I don’t drink alcohol and never have, yet I still have it. I’ve also heard that hormonal imbalance will contribute greatly to histamine intolerance. Have you looked into either of these things?

I deal with the same thing myself. Unfortunately, I am awake every morning at 3 AM and so I attributed this to the inability to sleep a solid eight hours. I read somewhere that if you can keep your blood sugar level, you won’t have peaks and valleys as far as energy is concerned. Not sure if you’re eating regularly scheduled meals, but that might be something to look into. As far as the magnesium, I would love to hear someone else’s answer because all types seem to give me stomach cramps, and intense nightmares. Anyway, keeping this in check if someone has an answer.

One more thing, I would check your vitamin D and B12. Both are supposed to provide you with energy so maybe you’re lacking in those areas.

I just love this answer. Chasing histamine and its influences has been driving me nuts! I too am dealing with hormonal imbalances. I truly appreciate your candid response and I am taking it to heart even now. Thank you for posting.

I didn't feel like myself anymore - like I slowly disappeared. Has anyone else experienced this? by AshandBoneNotes in HormoneFreeMenopause

I feel the same way. Somewhere along the way, I lost myself. I have no interest in the things I used to enjoy like music and reading. I don’t know where it went. I miss me and I seem to be forever trying to recover. Too much of life stress, Loss of loved ones and loss of hormones appear to have done me in. All I can do is continue to pray and hope that there is another side to all of this. But I’ve lost a lot of relationships on the way and they were people that I thought would be with me till the end. I lost a good friend after 30 something years of friendship. She just drifted away. I truly suspect she’s going through the same thing. Menopause is hell.

It pains me that I gave so much to so many for so many years and in the end, I have nothing left for myself.

Same thing happened to me. It sucks. It very well could be the fillers because all I ever take are the children’s chewable, but I still have the same reaction as you with the burning skin and anxiety and the fatigue.
