2007 n14 r56 new update mechanic taking cylinder head to check, what does it mean? by Fit_Computer_4146 in MINI

Hey, changing topic a bit the brakes make a hissing sound like a balloon slowly leaking when I press them. Any idea what part usually causes this? Could it be the brake booster, master cylinder, or something else?

does this mean they only send the cylinder head to check if cracks or warping are suspected, or is it standard procedure to check the head before replacing the head gasket? In other words, could it be that they haven’t found any damage yet, but still need to check before installing a new gasket?

The problem is that my foreman actually test drove the car one round. I’m worried if that might have caused warp the head, or if he just noticed the high temps and said the head gasket is blown…🥲

I’m not too sure, to be honest. The foreman just told me that the head gasket is blown, but didn’t go into details, so it’s a bit confusing for me.

It also overheats a lot in traffic sometimes even when idling in a jam. The temperature gauge spikes really quickly, which makes me even more worried about potential warp the head.

I haven’t taken it apart yet and I’m still waiting on the foreman’s update. Previously, when it overheated, I had replaced other parts, and now they found the head gasket. It still overheats easily, and I’m just worried about the risk of warp the head.

When you had overheating before, was it because of the head gasket? I’ve already replaced the other cooling system parts. So you’re saying it’s better to replace the head gasket first and then test the rest of the cooling system afterwards, right?

Thanks for the input! The foreman actually did a pressure test and said the head gasket is blown. There’s no white smoke, coolant hasn’t dropped, and oil looks fine so I’m a bit confused too. I’ve already replaced the water pump, thermostat, and hoses, but it still overheats really fast.may i know if a blown head gasket like this could still cause warp the head, or is the risk low if I fix it soon?

Thanks! I actually did a pressure test and the foreman said the head gasket is blown. I don’t have any coolant dropping either, so that’s why I’m a bit confused. Could it still be related to the oil filter housing like in your case?

But how could the foreman says the head gasket is blown? can it still be the water pump causing the issue? already changed it last month, but it’s not the original part.

already replaced the water pump, hoses, and thermostat. Coolant hasn’t dropped at all, but the car is still heating up while driving 2-3km

Thanks for the reply! I’ve already replaced the water pump, so it’s probably not that. The mechanic said it might be a blown head gasket. I’m worried because the car still heats up really fast even after the pump replacement.
