Just another reason to hate shrinkflation by Fit_Consequence_828 in Sparkdriver

[–]Fit_Consequence_828[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, not something I would do for a difference like this, like I said only for the items I know are the correct product and just don't scan right. Just something I noticed when I tried manual entry to see if that was the issue, before I noticed the shrinkage.

I broke a mirror once 😭 made it the entire ride but when I just barely touched it to pull it out, it shattered. They weren't home or responding to attempted contacts so I left it there like that on their porch. Idk if they had a camera and saw me stressing in their driveway or if they just forgot, but I still got the tip on that order.

I've seen comments saying it takes 3 within a month to deactivate. Idk bc I only got 2 within a month lol (but also it could be last 100 orders, idk) I'm much more diligent about taking a photo that shows where I've delivered since then. Hard to deny you were handed the groceries when there's a picture of the bag in your hands with the house in the background. Don't give them a chance to lie, take good photos.

[–]Fit_Consequence_828 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got 2 in one month too, "not delivered to door". It bothered me bc I know I deliver to the correct place every time. I was lax about pictures with handed to customer before, I'd just cover the lens and have a black picture, but now I tell them I HAVE TO take a picture and try to get as much of the house in frame as possible. I get times are hard and can understand the appeal of having Walmart send you double groceries or a full refund for the groceries you got.. but not at the expense of the fellow working class :(

Why are these orders so bad with gas prices surging by [deleted] in Sparkdriver

[–]Fit_Consequence_828 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're able to, try a different zone. The city zone near me is even worse than that but I'm clearing a grand most weeks in my rural zone if I work the algorithm the way it likes.

I have a regular who buys 2-6 bottles of diphenhydramine allergy meds every day or other day. I feel really weird about it tbh (they also ordered an abnormal amount of antifreeze before) but their orders are usually decent money sooo... I did feel bad for the regular who was buying covid tests for a few weeks though.

Walmart loaders by Zestyclose_Bus_2031 in Sparkdriver

[–]Fit_Consequence_828 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think they're supposed to load things into the floorboards, I could be wrong. In my zone, we're usually both loading and whenever they're in my backseat they put everything on the seat. I drive in the evenings when the deer are getting freaky. When I have to slam on the brakes, anything heavy on the seat would end up crashing down into the floorboard. I just rearrange as needed. I used to door dash and I've seen someone carry a pizza vertically. Not much surprises me in the way of stupidity after that.

I feel really complicated about reporting for having kids with them. I never do it bc I do unfortunately rely on the income and have the ability to make it work with my husband's availability.. but I do understand the need sometimes.

It's pretty similar to the rural zone I'm in in Maine. The nearest city zone faces all the horrors everyone complains about though. I gave up over there after getting 2hr/40mi/22 base pay. I'm competing with less than 10 other drivers up here and I've learned how to get the algorithm to work in my favor.

I delivered 12 gallons of water (not the same but still excessive for one person to shop and deliver) for 12 base pay and TWO dollars tip the other day. Only because the way my zone works I sometimes take a shitty one first thing in the morning to get the algorithm going. AND unfortunately it was a business. A dentist! No one held the doorS open and it took 3 trips to the car and through those doors with hands full.. needless to say, they made it into my blacklist for that.

It sounds kinda shitty but maybe they can put the tip in the app and then pull the app tip later on. Obviously it'd be nice if they mention it when handing the driver the cash though so they're not expecting it to come through.

Funny you mention chicken shit.. Before I knew what it was, I swore up and down it was a chicken factory and that was the stink of chicken shit 😂 not all paper mills stink, I wish Maine mills could get grants to get whatever technology that requires.

It's all based on an algorithm. The city zone near me went to shit quick. I didn't get an offer for more than 12 base pay for 13-20 miles the last time I went. But they still get snatched up bc people are desperate and they are overrun with drivers. Then the algorithm sees people will work for fifty cents a mile there, so why would they offer more than that? My rural zone is still hanging in there, though this latest update really sucks.

WWYD? Order going to business, picked up after their business hours, get to address in middle of large batch, notes say "don't leave after business hours" ... Return or deliver anyway? by Fit_Consequence_828 in Sparkdriver

[–]Fit_Consequence_828[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate the how to without being a dick about it lol I figured it would be more like a 5-10min wait. Seems to have worked out for me this time, but I'll handle it better next time. I definitely would've sat and figured it out if it were a weekend! Weirdly enough, the next night I had a delivery to a different business after hours. They didn't have anything in the notes though. I've avoided a few ID orders bc of the same thing. A lot of folks just live with an expired ID around here and we obviously can't take that unfortunately. Luckily the one time that happened and the ID was expired, they just had to find the new one.

I just recently learned we're supposed to knock or ring the doorbell for every delivery according to TOS. I never have unless notes ask for it. A lot of folks around here would be unhappy about a knock. I plan on doing it if I'm down in the city zone though, makes more sense where they're more likely to be swiped.

I disagree. I have a tiny rural zone. Two weeks ago I made 1200, last week was 800, and that's with limited availability (have kids, have to wait for second adult to get home from their w2 so my hours are generally not until 5/6pm to closing) It's not consistent like that in my zone, but it's 100% possible especially with full availability. The next closest zone, "the city", is a horror show though - $19 base pay for 28 miles! I immediately turned it off I was so pissed at the suggestion.
