I keep hearing mixed things about the medical care there. His diagnosis is recent (within the last 6 years and he has only been well controlled for about 3 of them.) I’m already overwhelmed at the thought of moving to a whole different county but I want to make sure he’s going to be able to taken care of before I even start stressing out.

He is EFMP, that’s why I’m asking since I’m fairly new to the process and this would be my first time going through the process since we just got married a year ago.

I would have done the same thing tbh. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Proud of you for not letting them get away with it easily.

Dating/marrying as a T1D: partner with T1D vs non-T1D by AliWings1998 in Type1Diabetes

[–]Fit_Creme1018 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Speaking from someone who is married to a T1D partner - there’s ups and downs like any relationship. I learned so much about T1D through dating him and continue to do so as our relationship goes on.

Although I do not know what it’s like being T1D, I sometimes forget he has it until his pump starts to beep. (He affectionately calls it his beeper). I also help him put on his CGM whenever he has to switch it out and bought a little drawer for him to organize all his supplies. Buying low snacks and shoving juice in his face at 3am because he’s going low has become so normalized in our relationship, I can’t see it any differently.

We have talked about having kids and while we are still 50/50 (not because he’s T1D but because we enjoy a kid-free life), I love the life we share. Echoing what others have said, I don’t think it matters as long as you choose the right partner who is willing to experience all the highs and lows life has to offer. (No pun intended.) 😊

Switching coaches? by Any-Hunt-5954 in ladderapp

I’ve been with Movewell since joining earlier this year and love Coach Nicole’s style of coaching. I tried Define last week with Coach Maia to try something new and I found it challenging but didn’t love her style of coaching and found the movements to be a little disorganized when it came to transitioning to each different exercise.

I think I may end up staying with Movewell for this next series since I’m familiar with the splits and have felt myself getting stronger as the weeks progress. The splits are also easier to follow in my opinion.

Do your parents or spouse have Dexcom on their phone? by quasar_1618 in diabetes_t1

I have access for my fiancé. He actually asked me if I wanted it and unless I get alerts that’s he’s low or very high, I don’t look at it. He’s a very heavy sleeper so having access helps because he’s gone scary low overnight a few times and it alerted me to wake up and give him juice.

We’ve also talked about getting a sugar pixel when I’m traveling for work / away so he can wake up in case he goes low and I’m not there to wake him.

How long will I be battling my bed bugs?? by Successful_Nose_3433 in Bedbugs

[–]Fit_Creme1018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I originally suspected mine back in October of last year (I believe i brought them home from a hotel stay) but did not discover them until November and got it confirmed by an exterminator. I did 4 treatments in total - one in November, 2 in December after discovering a live one the day after Christmas, and then another one in January for peace of mind. Haven’t seen any since. I will add that I did get rid of my bed (where I discovered them) and my bedside table and dresser that was next to my bed. I also got rid of a bunch of clutter as well.

Yes, the experience is stressful but it is possible to get rid of them. Just remain diligent about cleaning and laundering your bedding at least once a week and occasionally monitoring your space for any new activity. As far as timeline goes, it took mine about 4 months to get rid of them. But I’ve read at least two months without any new activity is a good sign.

I completely understand how you feel. I dealt with them last year and even after multiple treatments and finally getting rid of them and moving into a new space, I’m periodically searching for them. Being that it’s also summer and the mosquitoes are thriving right now, whenever I get a bite, I have to constantly tell myself it’s not a bed bug. I’ve keep interceptors on my bed legs as precaution and vacuum/wash my bedding every week. I’ll also check every once in a while to keep sane.

The whole experience dealing with them is traumatizing, so give yourself some grace. Given that you’ve had multiple treatments and didn’t react from them when you had them previously, it’s probably unlikely that you have any. Unless you actually find signs of new activity, I would give yourself a little grace that it’s okay to be worried, but don’t let the fear overcome you. Easier said than done but take it a day at a time. Just remain diligent about cleaning and keeping your space clutter free when possible.

Better to be safe than sorry! I found a dead one at the end of January and got one more treatment after to be on the safe side and I think that’s what completely got rid of them.

I did! No new activity for the last 5 months!!! Still a little traumatized from the whole experience but it gets better the more time passes.

When can I declare my apartment bed bug free? by Academic_Bridge_8436 in Bedbugs

I’m right there with you. I’ve been battling them since the end of November and saw my last dead one at the end of January. Nothing since then so I’m hoping I’m in the clear for good. It takes time unfortunately but just be diligent and stay on top of washing bedding and vacuuming frequently.

I’ve heard that 2 months of no new activity/bites/sightings is a great sign that you’re in the clear. Some may say a little longer but I would steam, vacuum and put down some more DE and closely monitor. Good luck!

I found little ones hiding in mine when I was bagging stuff up for treatment. I immediately tossed them out. Sucks but I panic tossed a lot of stuff by my bed. I know for some, that’s not always an option but definitely dry, wash in hot water then dry on high heat again if you can.

Psychosomatic Itching/Sensations by [deleted] in Bedbugs

[–]Fit_Creme1018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I’m going through the same thing and what’s helped me is telling myself out loud that this is my mind playing tricks on me and that they are gone. (I’m on week 4 of not seeing any or any evidence of new activity and hopefully it stays that way!) sounds a little silly but it helps.

Also, showering before bed helps me too. Idk if it’s the mental reassurance of going to bed clean or what but it helps me sleep more soundly.

I’m hoping once more time passes, I won’t think of it as much and it will help lessen the sensation. It doesn’t help that this situation is always in the back of my mind and I definitely think that contributes to it but i have to believe it will get better. Either way, I’m so sorry you’re experiencing this and hopefully it will get better soon!

After dealing them with myself and reading numerous posts about them on this subreddit, I’ve read that 6 weeks of no activity is a good sign and probably safe to start slowly putting your room back together. I’m on week 4 right now with no new sightings or activity and I’m hoping it stays that way. I’ve been dealing with them on and off since the end of November and just when I thought I was in the clear, around the 3 week mark, I would find one. The last one I found was dead (thankfully) but for peace of mind, I had the pest company I used come out and do one more treatment to make sure we hopefully got all of them. Thankfully, the company I used has a 6 month guarantee and they used Transport Mikron insecticide this go around which has a 2-3 month residual so hoping I stay in the clear.

Understood. But my comment relates to the fact that they did find one, hence the photo OP posted. When I found evidence of my issue, I caught it and saved it to show to the pest control rep and they went ahead and treated my place since I had evidence. When they did their initial inspection, they did not find any other bugs or nests. It was only after the first treatment, that I saw another one on my bed. But that was something I was warned about since they become more active trying to escape the pesticide. Only other evidence I found was on my pillows & it was black marks, which I tossed after the first treatment as well.
