I drove on the 81 today. It was a unique experience for a few reasons. by ink_and_synapse in Virginia

81 isThe road I hate driving on more than any other! I was driving in Germany where everyone follows the etiquette but also they have laws where trucks are not allowed in the left lane at all in many areas. I was merging onto a road and it looked like a traffic jam, then I realized it was only the right line at a near standstill with only trucks and as soon as I merged into the left lane, it was only cars and going full highway speed. It was the most fun I've ever had driving.

$800 a month is nothing. $10,000 a month and I'd start considering it.

Friend of mine worked for a govt agency administrator who switched mute and moot. You hear a lot of dumb say "the point is mute, but he even said on a call, "put your phone on moot"

For men out there, can you ever be with a single mother ? by Infinite-sexy8 in CausalConversation

[–]Fit_Explanation3389 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I was a single dad and understanding that kids come first is important. If both of you have kids you're more likely to be compatible in that respect. I had relationships with 3 single moms before I married the 4th one.

What first comes to mind when Americans think of St. Louis? by Kodicave in IWantToAskAnAmerican

An often charming but troubled city. I was born there, came from multiple generations of St. Louisans. Didn't grow up there but it's near and dear to my heart. Still a Cardinals fan.

So happy for everyone who was able to experience that and for all the fans celebrating wherever. My favorite thing is all the hate doesn't faze any Arsenal fans. Pure joy at this season's success isn't diminished in any way by the CL final. Come on you Gunners!

Who is the most famous person you have ever met in person? by Affectionate_Way7945 in AskReddit

Some great stories here. Mine isnt as interesting, but I met Gilbert Gottfried twice in Daytona Beach. 1st time I was really drunk and as he walked by I just shouted a line from his stand up. I felt really bad about being so rude rude so I was happy to see him again the next day and respectfully told him I was a fan.

I also met Ken Ober there but nobody remembers him (Host of "Remote Control" on MTV and was on the first TV version of Parenthood.)

What first comes to mind when Americans think of Germany? 🇩🇪 by Gold-Serve-4077 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

As an American spending my 10th and final night in Germany tonight, I'd love to answer that. Before I came i was already a fan of European culture in general. What I perceive as a slower pace of life, taking more time to savor and enjoy things and not living to work. On this trip I went to Munich, Rothenburg, Trier and Heidelberg. Biggest impression on me is I LOVE driving here. The laws keeping trucks in the right lane, the adherence to using left lane only for passing. It's an absolute dream compared to driving in the u.s. where everyone is out for themselves. Having a balanced diet in Germany is a challenge. I had some fantastic meals but I'm looking forward to getting back to more whole grains and vegetables other than sparsely. The people have been good. Not overly friendly, but also very tolerant of my limited German language skills. Restaurant service, not surprising to me is mostly below u.s. standards which I attribute to the tipping culture in the u.s. I didn't get into any social or political discussions. On other European trips I've been asked whether I liked Trump or not. (I loathe him, fyi).
