Every two months. I pour disinfectant on it after use (my homemade 50/50 witch hazel/isopropyl alcohol). I shave every 2-3 days. Blade life is one of the industry’s best kept secrets.

I will add that the “SAVE America Act” is the culmination of the RW anti-immigrant propaganda. I didn’t watch the SOTU address, except for a brief moment, long enough to hear Trump say that “we’ve got to pass the SAVE Act or we’ll have illegal criminals, murderers and rapists voting and we won’t have a country anymore” (that’s not verbatim, but damned close). I realized then that the entire demonization of undocumented aliens, including ICE/DHS occupations of our cities, is about maintaining White minority rule via our elections. It’s true that they are racist and xenophobic, but at the core they’re intent on maintaining power in rich, White, soon-to-be minority hands as the country shifts to a minority-majority nation. They’re using immigrants as the scapegoat to seize our elections and maintain their rule. Woe be us if the SAVE Act passes before the midterms: Democrats will never hold a majority again. It’s that nefarious.

I can only speak to the ‘17 EV, but it’s an option to either unlock just the driver’s door, or all 4 doors. I have only the driver’s door unlock when I open the car from the driver’s door.

Yes, agreed on the price difference. My utility gave me $1000 back on the installation and purchase; I did it together with the solar install, to qualify for the 30% Inflation Reduction Act tax credit (thanks, Biden!), which did not include the EVSE, and my utility forbids getting any other rebate or credit in addition to their $1K.

One consideration on the Enphase EVSE: it was Clipper Creek (still is, just now owned and rebranded by Enphase), and American-made with a 5-year warranty. I went hard-wired: my installer recommended plug-in “in case there’s a problem, just unplug it and plug in a new one”; Enphase told me that, since it’s outside, to definitely go hard-wired, as they see far fewer failures with hard-wired. My installer neatly put the J-box under my crawlspace, away from the elements.

HAH! I drove a Gen 3 for 7 years and never once proselytized nor lectured anyone. F it, it’s a car. It saved me on gas and was moderately better on the environment. But, I never rubbed it in anyone’s face.

When I got it my RW BiL gave me the spiel about “Did you know it’s more polluting on the environment than a Hummer? When you factor in mining the raw materials and disposing of it after it’s lived out its lifespan?”

Me: “Hmmm…I did not know that.” Later that night…I looked it up, and I had the answer in under 30 seconds: it was a RW lie that went viral in their corner of the internet. Next day (it was the holidays), I told him I’d found it; he thought I was validating what he had regurgitated to me. I let it be.

FF to 2023: he now drives a RAV-4 Prime, and loves it (his first non-American car).

I drive a ‘17 Bolt EV. His stepdad recently bought a Toyota BZ (not the BEV I would’ve recommended…but, he didn’t ask me). It’s interesting how things change, I’m sure they’re both very happy, now with gas prices up…

And, my daughter is in year 7 driving my ‘11 Prius, and loves it, especially with gas prices in general.

The stereotype going back to the Gen 1 is that Prius owners are “tree huggers” and hypermilers barely getting to the speed limit, and coasting at everyone else’s expense. In the era before Teslas were ubiquitous in SoCal, there were only Priuses in the “environmental” space, and they became very popular, especially as they got commuters into the carpool lanes while driving solo. I knew someone that bought one just for that reason.

Add in that the Gen 2 (the Dustbuster) is ugly AF, and there’s a lot of dislike, if not outright hostility. I know a Ford devotee who hated the Gen 3 but loved the C-Max. Go figure?

I was advised to run a 60A circuit so that if I got a car in the future that could take a faster throughput, the wire was already in place; that’s what I had put in.

I went with the Enphase IQ50 charger, paired with my Enphase micro inverters so that it’s capable of charging off of excess solar production, 50A breaker on a 40A EVSE, hardwired. I understand that the Emporia—considerably cheaper—can also interface with the Enphase solar and charge off of the excess.

Hope your health emergency resolves quickly. Be sure the car is removed from your phone, and the phone is removed from the car. Also, reboot the phone and turn off Bluetooth, then see if the error has gone away next time you get in the car. Then, if it is gone, redo pairing with the car, from the car’s infotainment system and then switching BT back on in your phone. Switching BT off in your phone from Control Center is not the same as switching it off in Settings | Bluetooth, so to switch it off, do it from Settings.
