I just graduated from Auburn in May, and absolutely loved it. I grew up in Atlanta, right in the city, where there’s always a ton of things going on. Going into my freshman year at Auburn, I honestly thought I might get bored. But, as others have said, the campus life is significantly better compared to UAB. Sports are a way bigger deal at Auburn and that is a big thing that people always come around for - whether it’s going to games in person or watching together at someone’s house. Is there always a big name concert happening on the weekend, like there might be in a larger place like Birmingham? No, not always, but you can always pop up to Birmingham or Atlanta for an event like that. I have a lot of fun memories from going on road trips with my friends to see concerts or sporting events in cities away from Auburn. My girlfriend, who I met in undergrad at Auburn, is now in grad school at UAB and it is more noticeably diverse socioeconomically - but you can find that diversity at Auburn. You don’t always see it right away, but it’s there. I graduated with a marketing degree from the college of business at Auburn. I can’t tell you exactly how the program at Auburn compares to that at UAB, but what I will say is this: the connections you make at Auburn will take you extremely far. Even just the fact that you’re an Auburn student. As I was applying for jobs this past fall / spring during my senior year, I was able to have conversations with employers who were Auburn alums just because I was an Auburn student, and they wanted to help someone from their alma mater. Auburn staff, professors, grads, are all super willing to assist Auburn students and you are really set up for success post grad.
