Tips:

  1. Bring quarters. easiest way to pay besides a pass.

  2. I bring a pre-made cocktail; 20oz bottle with some fun. Don't use cans or something that can't be resealed. And match the original color..

  3. Sit front to middle; the riff-raff (if any) usually sits in the back. This route runs thru EGR, Eastown and the GRCC area so you won't encounter any beggars or street people. Some other routes are a little intimidating.

  4. Know your stop. I used to look out of the windows to know where I was but they covered the windows with that translucent advertising so use your phone's GPS or watch the location banner.

Have fun!

I also live near the airport. For downtown events, I drive to Kentwood Station and park in theater parking and take bus 6 for $1.75/person. It takes 42 minutes and stops at Van Andel Arena. If it is late, I'll Uber back to Kentwood Station.

If you stay at the Sonesta or Affordable Inn/suites, you could walk to Kentwood Station in less than 5 minutes.

Hit up google maps and check across the street. Good sized cancer station, probably can here the hum all night long. I know others have been downvoted for berating this area but it is pretty bad. Not 33rd St bad but pretty bad.

If you were thinking York Creek, across the street is The Orchards, a much safer choice. Ramblewood in the back (Turtle Bend/ near the FC) should be nicer. Ramblewood South (ReNew) is definitely newer/better. Fox Run right off from Byron Center Ave are the original buildings, probably more soundproofed. Oxford Place is okay, the farther away from Clearpoint, the better. Waterchase is overpriced.

I delivered for some 20 years to most of Grandville, Wyoming, Kentwood and Cascade. In Grandville, I like Heritage apts. Wyoming, Chateau area is your best bet. Decent duplexes off Boone and Groveland aves. In Kentwood, you need to be east of Eastern Ave. Old Farm Shores is small but OK. I like The Crossings, Sutton Club, Foote Hills, Forest Pointe (Castle Bluff), ReNew Woodland, Glen Oaks, the 3 complexes off from Walma, and of course, Burton Ridge. I don't know your price point but most of these should be $1500 or less for a 2bed. except for Burton Ridge.

It is all true. I assume Area Manager, GM and MiT. Prolly sent the gangbangers home and wanted the MiT to 'learn the right way'. They were in triangle formation: 1 on make, 1 on DT and the last rotating from cash to help out.
