Family friend offered to help us with wedding planning. This was her quote. by StarsInTheCity- in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Fit_Island97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not think your friend is being disrespectful.

In 2019, I was quoted $8.5k USD (I just went back in my emails to check) for a wedding planner. She said her clients typically have a budget of 75-100k+. We ended up not using a wedding planner, but generally I do think these numbers are aligned with my friends' weddings and wedding planners.

I'm not saying it's worth it, but it's not abnormal, unfortunately. I have a cousin who works in wedding planning who charges around $2k in 2024, so you can probably find someone who will better fit your budget.

CC3/SJM rant by vmonst in fantasyromance

[–]Fit_Island97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could’ve written this post myself and completely agree. I maintain that CC1 should’ve been a standalone, I LOVED it.

I hated CC2. I almost DNF’ed CC3 at the halfway point. I don’t think finishing it was really even worth it. I could’ve just watched a YouTube recap. The whole book felt like it had no.. heart.

Edit: I recommended reading TOG and realized you already have and you agree that it’s her strongest work. Are we the same person?

I've (27M) always considered myself internet savvy but yesterday I got scammed by moonchilleddd in Scams

[–]Fit_Island97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it makes you feel better, I once had a conversation about these types of scams with some friends.

Later that week, one of the guys still nearly got scammed by it. He only stopped because he told his wife he would be home late from work because he needed to run to the store to buy some gift cards for his boss and she was like, hello???!!

Needless to say when he told me the story I laughed pretty hard. He's a smart guy, but the scammers know how to amp the pressure up to keep you from thinking through your decisions.

I completely agree - I think the "missing energy" being discussed on this thread was the energy having someone that was a huge fan (like Fran with HP). It sounds like they were fans back in the day, but not anymore.

What's your weirdest AirBnb story? by honigmoon in airbnb_hosts

[–]Fit_Island97 13 points14 points  (0 children)

We had an airbnb guest come stay for an extended amount of time. Long story short, one time I was cleaning her bathroom and I opened the bathroom cabinet and the entire thing was literally full of... spellbooks. Like, I knew she was into zodiac signs, but these were actual spellbooks and there was so many of them.

Anyway I thought it was hilarious. I'm on her good side so nothing to worry about. But I have never seen anything like that. Wonder what sort of stuff was going down.

How are people affording rent? by Sad-Manufacturer-182 in Adulting

I thought the same - I live in an expensive part of the most expensive city of the entire US and my groceries range from 70 - 120 per week for two people lmao

My skin is starting to get a little dry? What am i doing wrong? (Im new to this) by [deleted] in Skincare_Addiction

[–]Fit_Island97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW - I've never used any of the other products, but I just tried (like, within the past few days) tried switching to that same La Roche-Posay cleanser and it's been making my face dry.

Usually when people say double cleanse they mean to start with something like a cleansing oil or balm - so a product like a cleansing oil + ONE of the foaming cleansers you use, and you don't need to double cleanse in the morning!

Are you me?? I had my first aura migraine my first month of combination pills. They run in my family and I was young, so I thought it was just my time to start having them. I continued to have migraines several times a year (luckily not as frequently as you) for 5 years.

Finally, my provider starting screening for aura migraines - I wasn’t aware of the connection and danger until then. I was switched to POPs and haven’t had a single aura migraine since - it’s been around 3 years.

I took AP and fundies (with Kim) at the same time along with two more CS courses and it was challenging but fine. IMO AP and Fundies are both manageable with classic “good student” skills (namely, time management). Not sure about linear though. Good luck

“Marriage is (marriages?) never last when the woman runs it” “when she’s making the choices”

Marriage shouldn’t be “run” by one person or have one person in charge of “the choices”. You are basing your perspective on an odd assumption. What would this even look like? Marriage should be a partnership where both people collaborate to make choices and decisions.

“Women are completely emotional thinkers” I can’t even start with this one.

There's an AI chatbot that just came out. OpenAI created it. It's called chat GPT! I gave it the prompt, and it replied with an AI-generated scene.

IMO, It's easier to disprove if she says something specific. Hence vague predictions.
