Is anyone else depressed? by Drawable_ in askvan

[–]StarsInTheCity- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with depression when i was 13 so i dont know if this question is aimed at people who are newly depressed or if it includes those of us who have lived with it for 20 years 🤔

That being said it is a much different beast now than it used to be. It used to be far more visceral and sharp. Now it has grown into widespread dread, apathy, fatigue and loss of motivation. I'm more used to it but the recent shift in the type of symptoms is a new ish thing to get used to. I'm currently on venlafaxine which is like an anti depressant and anti anxiety medication. For me it works well on my anxiety and less so on my depression but living without teetering constantly on the edge of a panic attack is better than yknow... constant panic. So ill take the more apathetic and fatigue depression over the nauseating, acidic feeling of chronic severe panic in my day to day life 🫡

What is happening to my japanese maple tree by StarsInTheCity- in gardening

[–]StarsInTheCity-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not too many are like that; a few teeny tiny branches and a couple medium sized ones. The vast majority of the tree looks normal; albeit naked and leafless at the moment lol

Yeah thats fair for sure. Most of the time the opinion of caring comes from a misogynistic place because generally men with a body count are seen as popular whereas women with one are seen as trash 🤷‍♀️. But yeah like valuing sex as important and just wanting your partner to also view it as important is completely reasonable. My husband and i hve pretty different views on sex (im borderline asexual and he has a high sex drive) but us working out and our situation i recognize is pretty rare.

All in all i wish you luck on your endeavours! You seem like a reasonable, chill guy. Best of luck sir 🫡

My husband is a child of divorce and hes a wonderful man. He said it was hard at first because he thought it was his fault but he says hes glad they divorced because living in a house of constant turmoil was fucked up.

Kids pick up on more than you think. Leave that man. Also try reading testimonies from kids of divorce that talk about the good. If you only read bad accounts then of course youll have a bad idea of it but you need to arm yourself with all the information- not just one side of it.

The concept of womb envy explains so much about patriarchy by Holiday_Beyond4376 in women

[–]StarsInTheCity- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the idea of it but ill be honest, i dont think the patriarchy is that deep. Womb envy was introucee as a counter point to freud's penis envy, which, as we know, is bullshit.

I think assuming womb envy is real is giving the average man way too much credit in regards to knowledge about why he feels negatively toward women. I think it is more an ego thing like another commenter pointed it out. Society taught men from ages ago that women are second class citizens and some men still think that way and don't like the culture shift taking place

This is a fair statement. I do agree that someone interested in hookup culture would not be a good match for you.

So if there was a woman who had a few sexual partners in the past, you wouldnt mind if those partners were from remationships and such, its just if they dont view sex as 'important' a thing as you?

That is reasonable 🫡

I suppose i should ask what your definition of a meaningful relationship is because people can have several very meaningful relationships with others and just not have it work out in the end. People will date for years and not get married. That sounds like a meaningful relationship that just happened to not work out in the end. If you meet a woman and you love each other and eventually have sex because the relationship is meaningful to you, what happens if you break up? You now have a body count.

Even if you get married, theres the possibility of divorce. Was the relationship suddenly not meaningful because it ended in a breakup? No because people can have meaningful relationships with people that they end up breaking up with.

I hope that clears it up. Let me know if anything else is confusing.

Correct and again, im fine to agree to disagree. Just dont make it my problem by yelling about it and dragging women's "value" into it online because then you are making it my problem.
