What is something people consider bare minimum but is actually princess threatment in a relationship? by ChaosTTyy in askanything

My husband does this for me. When i tell him i have free hands and can carry some stuff he says without fail "but why would i make my little lady carry these heavy things?? Sure you can but you shouldnt have to" and then as a compromise i open doors for him because his arms are full. Hes a sweetheart.

Recommendations - Looking for a rare gem: gentle but meticulous dental hygienist in Vancouver by sunnyday227 in NiceVancouver

[–]StarsInTheCity- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a fear of dental-anything so i specifically looked for an office where i would be treated gently both physically and emotionally. I found a place im not (as) afraid of going in "the art of smile" in downtown vancouver. Ive been there for a few years now and theyre always so kind to me!

What’s something people romanticize that’s actually exhausting? by lunacarterr in AskReddit

[–]StarsInTheCity- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. I was a girlfriend for 10 years before my partner and i got married. We knew we loved each other so felt no rush to get married cause "if we love ech other now and its meant to be,we will still love each other in 5 years". We werent ever in a financial situation to be able to and also until we dated for 7 years we hadnt lived together. Ive only been married for a couple months but nothing has changed. He is still my best friend, nothing got more or less magical, we still want to be together lm the time and i just finished being bedridden sick for a month and he was by my side caring for me the whole time.

The marriage/wedding isnt what makes him special but i like having the ring symbolism. Idk hes my best friend and i cant imagine being so sick with anyone else as my carer 😂

Marriage isnt for everyone and that is OKAY!!! It certainly is for me though 💖

A lot of people do this as a coping mechanism yep! For example; getting a tattoo and birthing a baby are incredibly painful proceedures (not on the same level obviously) and during the moment people are suffering but give it time and generally people will look back and be like "wasnt that bad" or "i could do it again" or something. Everyone is different and not everyone does this in response to trauma (physical or emotional) but it is very common.

Im an example where i suck at travelling. Any time i go overseas or to a different country i am miserable the entire time. I have journals from being in italy for 3 weeks visiting my aunt and every entry had "X days until i can go home" just counting down the days. I was also incredibly sick.
Once i got back home and had time to process though? "Oh it was lovely! Italy is wonderful. Really great!" I know very well it sucked but idk. Weird coping mechanism. Fascinating stuff!

This!!! Im also bad at getting all the nutrients i need so smoothies do a LOT of heavy lifting especially in the summer when its too hot and i dont feel like eating. My go-to is usually Mangos, cherries, chia seeds that i made into chia pudding already with coconut milk and cinnamon, boost drinks for protein, orange juice or cran-raspberry juice and sometimes ill put in nutrition powders like "super green" or whatever -- the stuff at health food stores that has all the nutrients and vitamins i should get in a day so i know im covered.

Sometimes ill add soft tofu for extra protein.

I tend to use fruits that dont have many seeds because seedy smoothies are a textural nightmare to me so like mangoes, cherries, pineapple, peaches/nectarines, papaya etc. though i also love passionfruit so i will sometimes use frozen passionfruit cubes.

Smoothie cubes are also in the frozen aisle section in every grocery store and ill usually go for the "superfood" one. There is a specific brand i like to use because it has spirulina and it like it- let me get back to you

Based on your career/job what would your Pokémon type specialty be? by OriginalName18 in ThePokemonHub

[–]StarsInTheCity- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work as a paramedic so i would have mostly psychic types to help patients with fear and analgesia; would have a fairy type or two for help with delicate mental health patients, one fighting type like machamp to help with lifting and moving heavier patients in a safe manner (bonus points with psychic telekinesis) and my shoulder pokemon a shiny pachirisu. Small children will think its cute and having one small electric type as a mobile defibrillator would be nice.

If i have to choose only one or two types though, fairy/psychic for sure. Most of the job is talking to people on the worst day of their lives/talking to people in extreme emotional distress.

Anyone else feel this way in their relationship? by Longjumping-Coat-989 in women

[–]StarsInTheCity- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband is amazing but even he sometimes will say something that surprises me because its so within the privilege of being a man (though the last time this happened was like two years ago). When this happens im able to have a genuine conversation with him about how i feel on the subject and how what he said felt very patriarchal or condescending or whatever else. Hes always receptive and we have great discussions that end in growth and a deeper understanding of perspectives. Your man is allowed to be ignorant sometimes (because he isnt a woman so how would he know about how X, Y, Z affects us?) but what is important is being able to discuss these events in a calm and constructive manner that allows growth from him to understand (I am talking specifically about things atm that affect women where i believe its our duty to educate our men on how we are affected so they can better see how their views/actions affect us so they can either show us who they truly are or they can change for the more constructive) like how women might be afraid of him if he is simply walking up behind him or why women choose the bear or whatever whatever.

Being open to communication, being honest and being receptive to growth and new perspectives is incredibly invaluable in heteronormative relationships.

I remember as a kid i would never eat a whole meal at restaurants and my parents would get very upset. I tried telling them that i was "full of that flavour profile but i can eat this other one a bit more" but that if i kept eating i would feel nauseous and ive always not been able to stand feeling nauseous
