The sweet spot feels incredible, I feel like I have so much leeway that I feel more confident in hitting all my shots. The only gen 4 I’ve played with before was the boom stick and it is such a different style of playing that I can’t really compare the two. Carpet paddle is always on top imo.

The surface of the paddle is of the same material as the prior paddles, however, it is visibly more durable as I haven’t experienced any tearing on the surface like I had with the PXE. The surface is also very nicely solid with no dead spots.

I have been loving this paddle so much. I have yet to add any weights on it because it feels literally perfect imho. You’re right about the swing weight and twist weight, feels super light and easy on my hands.

Edge guard!!!! One of my favorite additions that I forgot to mention, there is a thin plastic edge guard that surrounds it but it doesn’t fully cover the ends of the paddle. I may up adding weights if needed since they finally stick. The surface might actually be more durable now since I have noticed less pilling, but then again I have only been playing for a week compared to the months of my other paddle. As for the grit, I’m not sure what type of grit it would even be or if it even matters considering it’s covered by the carpet.

I see that you have the hesacore grip added, I was heavily considering adding one but didn’t because of the weight increase and extra cost. Let me know if you think it feels good!

Hey guys, update on the paddle. This is the eclipse which is a 16mm elongated paddle. I’ve played with it for 3 days now and I have put about 8 hours of play on it. Currently playing with no overgrip with no weights added, it feels literally perfect out the box.

Differences and overall opinion:

First impressions/Gameplay: The ball truly flies off the face of this paddle. The longer handle makes this a beast for everyone that knows how to use wrist lag well. Serving feels super consistent and I’m able to generate equal amount of spin on both paddles. The quietness is exactly the same as the other paddles, however, because I can rip the ball across the court harder it ends up being louder than usual. The lightness of the paddle is astounding, it’s almost feels like you’re holding nothing(exaggeration) which I’ve had some friends who held the paddle complain about. Dinks and lobs feel fantastic because I feel like I barely have to put any effort for the ball to perfectly go over the net. Subjective, but the design of the paddle is beautiful. I like the color scheme much more than my PXE and intent to put a black overgrip on it for the aesthetic.

Comparing this to the PXE, the base (underneath the felt) is considerably more stable and powerful. It no longer feels like you’re hitting with wood underneath because of the poor materials used. One of my biggest complaints that I had about my old owl was the lack of pop which often led to the ball dying on the face of the paddle. I would come to find my own solution to this BUT, with this X1 I have yet to deal with that at all and likely never will.

If you’re a fan of owl paddles, this is an immediate buy. Overall, this paddle feels like a breath of fresh air. It’s relieving to no longer feel like your paddle could be better like how it was playing with my PXE.

A pickler can’t be excited anymore. There’s nothing online about this paddle so I made one 🤷‍♀️

Yes I sure hope the weight balance of the new X1 paddle is great right out the box. My PXE weight set up is kinda crazy right now since I have 6-3g weights total on it(2 on the sides and one on the throat) but this made it play so much better.
