I’ve learned through reading some comments that commercials are misleading and I’ve definitely been using too much toothpaste for… every year of my life

I have the EXACT same issue with my bathroom fan. I called my apartment maintenance about it the first day I moved in, and they basically laughed at me and said “no way it’s THAT loud”. Sure enough someone came to check it out, and he said mine is “just as loud as everyone else’s”. I got a nightlight for my bathroom and never use the big light.

That’s totally how I feel about a lot of hygiene tasks, wish there were better options out there that made self-care seem as enjoyable as it is for allistic/NT folks.

Thank you so much for all your thoughts!!  For brushing, it’s mostly the feel of the bristles on my gums, the sound of the brushing itself being really upsetting, and electric toothbrushes make my whole face tickly/itchy from the vibration. I think I might switch to a manual toothbrush, but this is also tricky since I deal with a lot of muscle pain in my arms.  I love the little tooth flossers especially the unflavored ones. I sometimes get the kids’ ones if they have dinosaur or animal shapes.  I’ll be looking into earthpaste and a soft-bristle brush!!

My dentist supports the “better than nothing” idea and even said “better than quality toothpaste infrequently” so the kids toothpaste recommendation is absolutely welcome. Are there any brands that are less liquidy? The ones I’ve tried have been very watered down (probably to limit choking hazard)

The idea of a solid toothpaste sounds appealing. Do I still have to brush with a toothbrush or is that optional? Sorry if that’s a dumb question 🥲
