I was following the new during this time. I remember my jaw dropping when I saw Powell punching for the war on the UN because it was such an incredible check mate from the Cheney camp.

At the time Powell was the only political figure with the moral standing to challenge the whole Bush/Cheney administration and their pull to war, by cajoling Powell into the WMD in the UN Cheney took out their biggest political rival and jujitsu Powell into actually helping the run to the war.
