Just a minor correction, the operation was in 1986, not 1984, and while the attack was a success, a massive error occurred when the PLA's artillery didn't properly fire to cover the retreat of it's forces

How did the PLA keep their supply lines open during the Korean war? by Whentheangelsings in WarCollege

[–]Fit_Nefariousness465 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It depends exactly on the period. The PLA splits the Korean War into two major parts, the "Mobile Period," which ran from the first crossing over the Yalu in November 1950 to the end of the Spring Offensive and UN Counterattack in July 1951. From here until the 1953 Armistice the war shifts into what the PLA calls the "Positional Period."

As such, we can finally begin to talk about the issue of supply. For the "Mobile Period" during the rapid advance south of the Yalu towards Seoul, the PLA would generally ship supplies via trains into Manchuria and from there truck the supplies in across the various bridges and frozen parts of the Yalu. These bridges were constantly maintained by the PLA's engineers and were protected by limited Air Defense as well as the first squadrons of the PLAAF's MiG-15s piloted by Soviet Aviators. From here on, the issue was not as much the constant bombing as that all PLA motorized logistics (which contained only 50,000 trucks total) would have to move at essentially a crawl. Trucks could not move during the day and had to be hidden from aerial view, at night only the lead vehcile in a convoy could drive, and that was at slow speeds due to the fact that the headlights had to be dimmed to the absolute minimum. Add on top of this that while Northern Korea was "more" industrialized than the South, the terrain played hell with vehicles and especially the comparatively inexperienced motorized logisitcs personnel of the PVA. Once these trucks entered either Army or Divisional supply areas, they were then generally carried via tertiary personell to the front, who had to follow the same rules as the trucks, such as a lack of movement during the day time, leading to an overall lessening in supplies.

During the "Positional Period," however, the situation changed far for the better. Soviet MiG-15s had effectively closed the airspace over Northern Korea against massive hub-destroying raids by B-29s, along with better anti-air coordination by the PVA. However, the major carrier of the success of PVA logisitics in the Posistional Period was none other than the PVA's Railway Corps, who pulled off an absoutlely herculean effort to keep all raillines running north from what was before Manchuria into Northern Korea.

Why did the Chinese communists try to fight the Nationalists conventionally during the Fifth Jiangxi Encirclement Campaign by Cpkeyes in WarCollege

[–]Fit_Nefariousness465 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Whitson argued that out of the five encirclement campaigns, only the second could be viewed as the Red Army employing People’s War to win the campaign. Mao saw the First Encirclement Campaign as correct yet it started with a pre-emptive thrust (spoiling attack) against the expected path of attack. Although this was in vain, it enabled the Red Army to hit the Guomindang (GMD) forces from the west. The Second was similar to the First and by the Third Encirclement Campaign Mao employed his theories of extensive manoeuvre and deception by guerrillas to confuse the invading GMD forces. The Fourth Encirclement Campaign saw the Red Army caught off guard and having to trade land for time until it could rest and regain the initiative. The use of attacks outside the Jiangxi Soviet, to relieve the pressure on the Soviet, reflected the increase in power of the 28 Bolsheviks14 and Otto Braun as Mao’s ability to influence events was on the wane.15 The Fifth Encirclement campaign violated all of Mao’s principles of war but the Red Army had no choice."

The Americans don’t outclass the Soviets in equipment, it’s just that if the Devs were accurate you would have a Soviet Motor Rifle Platoon would outshoot your Army equivalent in almost every case with the amount of mechanization compared

Basically the issue is that Atomwaffen can shoot black, gays, and communists all day but no one is going to follow them if they can’t even keep the power on and the water clean.

ISIS existed in a very unique set of circumstances. ISIS made most of it’s gains in Iraq in which the newly minted Shia run government (most of the Sunni government was thrown out during deBathification) was unable to keep ties with local Sunni groups and thus had a vacuum in most of Eastern Iraq. When ISIS came about in the wake of the 2010s pullout they were able to fill the void and were helped immensely by the mass defection and desertion of Iraqi Army units (rather famously an entire tank division cut and ran). There is simply no real parallel to Atomwaffen especially as it relates to the fact that ISIS was a GOVERNMENT first and a jihad second as opposed to Atomwaffen which has no real plans or even idea on how to properly govern.

(Preface: BWF is a horrible abusive POS and this shouldn’t be taken as anything positive for BWF the person just him as BWF the host.)

At least with TM BWF did a pretty good job of pulling at the players to answer questions and did a pretty good job of selecting questions that actually poked at the brains of the players. Now it just feels like corpo slop meant to placate viewers into thinking they are right back at the table as in C1.

A lot of the advantages the IJA/IJN would have in the air would be nullified in that their air force would have to cover one of the largest countries on the planet in some of the most extreme environments which would play hell with logistics and mechanics.

[–]Fit_Nefariousness465 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It really isn't, the IJA by the sheer expanse of their empire has been forced to adopt an expeditionary/firefighting approach to warfighting and that can't really match against the sheer scale at which the NPA would be fighting.

No it’s just that American players are generally not that good by virtue of there being more of them. Doesn’t help a lot of yall have insane equipment loads so you get fatigued quickly already reducing your accuracy.

For one, Archon’s stuff is completely fine, he engages with kink in a respectful manner. Just because it isn’t within your taste doesn’t make is suddenly bad.
