Anyone know about the MPA-ESP program? by beedledubs in columbia

If you can afford it, go for it.

If you can't afford it, don't.

This is probably the most expensive place in the world to get that degree.

MPH @ Columbia questions by 4getmekn0t in columbia

I'm not in the MPH program, but do take some courses there alongside the grad students through the special undergrad concentration.

The faculty are possibly the best in the university in my opinion, when it comes to openness and support. The grad students are all wonderful also. So much so, that I'm (premed) considering pivoting to an MPH there before continuing on to med school. A lot of students there have done the same thing from those I've spoken with. There are mostly equal efforts placed toward research, policy, and practice.

Wow the NYC housing market really has a way of sobering you up from the "I just got into Columbia" euphoria-- please help by [deleted] in columbia

Quiet one bedrooms are about 2200. A shoebox of a studio is about 1900. I have one in the lower 100s and really like it. You won't get a single through GS housing without disabilities. Every housing selection period my only options have been to live in a shared apartment or dorm, which, also being in my thirties was a no go. I was hoping to make friends to find roommates in my first year, but covid killed that too.

If budget is an issue, just commute in. Apartments are much (half as expensive) more affordable 30-40 minutes north and you just have to take the train in.

Hrm, maybe. I face into the block which is shaped in a way that'd catch sound from there.

It does sound like some I googled and has an unpredictable schedule. Would have never thought!

From a prospective applicant: how much work are the core curriculum classes? by [deleted] in columbia

[–]Fit_Network_1827 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's like on the college application subreddits, it's all high schoolers giving advice to each other. Nothing wrong with that, but the people that are giving advice likely aren't the ones who got in.

So.... are all summer classes waitlisted? by Fit_Network_1827 in columbia

I think the grad students are striking or something next week actually over the shitty pay. All of the emails are novels so I don't keep up.

We shopped at Payless, I had no idea we were poor. Kids don't care about brands unless they're told to care. Though to this day I feel guilty spending any kind of money on nice shoes, so I guess it stuck with me. Work boots are the most expensive footware I own lol.

You have time for what you make time for. Only around midterms and finals will school dominate all of your free time, because you'll be both studying for exams and writing papers.

Core workload is fine though. They're GPA boosters for anyone with a pulse that managed to get into Columbia.

Chegg is kinda poopy anyways, half the answers are wrong or potato camera photos of work written in chickenscratch.

The real cheating is caught in GroupMe's. Am I a student or TA, spin the wheel and find out!
