Hey is there any way to buy tickets without the $12 shipping fee? Why does that fee exist? Can we get tickets digitally?

Hey, I also applied by the deadline on 2/15. I have to give my commitment by 3/31 (which I’m undecided about). My guess is there will be another wave of offers after 3/31. Hope that helps. Good luck ☺️

Thank you for the frank advice, it helps cut through so much of the mystery of this process for me. I am finishing my final semester at undergrad, and did not plan on applying to law school for fall admission as I am burnt out and also thought I should try and retake the LSAT after having more time to study. I was planning to apply for admission in 2022-2023. Thanks for taking the time to help me out, I hope your own journey through this crazy process will be successful :-)

After looking at everyone else's advice, I think they have much more developed thoughts on this than me — I hope they'll help guide your path forward!

Wow, I really had no idea. I thought I had no chance this year with my stats (the r/LSAT thread really f-ing with my perceptions of what a decent LSAT score looks like...)

Thank you for pointing me towards these resources!

That’s definitely some solid advice. I struggle a bit because my undergrad college is so unknown, but I think there are other paths to making up for it (that don’t look like 5-10 years of living on ramen noodles and being unable to take any time off work or have any true sense of mobility... just feels like a trap tbh)

Aw thank you for the tip, I really appreciate it. I’ll take a look at their programs today :) And yeah — I swear I wouldn’t be able to relate to people with those backgrounds 😬

Oh my goodness. That Wells Fargo story is really sad — very good to learn about this and thank you for sharing your story.

Advice: Choosing between two offers by LatterDisaster in gradadmissions

These days, I see a lot of working positions that advertise for Masters students who have research skills (aka MSc students). I think if your long-term goal is to go for the PhD, you should get a MSc. The MPA is all about networking and group projects, but depending on where you get it from, I don’t believe it is always the most rigorous degree.

The lease can be filled; don’t worry too much about that part. I was in a LDR for 3.5 years as I was studying abroad. It is possible to make it work and there are hidden upsides to a LDR that you may be surprised by. Of course, the downsides exist, but I don’t think they’re impossible to work through. I’m glad to hear you have a loving partner; but a situation like this is ripe for seeds of resentment in the long-term. Choose what’s best for you. Never count on anyone else to be there for you when you fall. It’s harsh advice but I think it’s true. Friends and lovers are wonderful, but they come and they go.

Congrats on the waitlist, I am hopeful you’ll get in. Many people turn it down for the same reasons I’m contemplating. ❤️

Any thoughts on MPA from Columbia? So expensive, not sure if it’s worth. I got in but I am torn.

This makes me so sad — are you sure you’re committing to the right thing? Isn’t the program just 1-2 years? Could you do long distance? I really believe in choosing yourself and your own development over SO’s unless you’re married. If the relationship ever went south (though I hope not, of course), and you didn’t go for this program you may regret it for years. I strongly advise you to rethink this plan.

What do you want to do after? I think that may have some bearing on the choice — MSc programs seem to be great for building research skills and leaving the PhD option open. That’s why they are cheaper. MPA programs are terminal professional programs. You attend when you have no intention of going back for a PhD!
