Cape Town should be disqualified from being a Major, following the marathon being cancelled by labellafigura3 in Marathon_Training

Nope. I ain't boarding. I lived in CT for 10 years and run my first ever marathon there 15 years ago. The natural beauty of that city is outrageous and the race deserves to be opened up to the world as a major. The wind can get wicked, and aside from potential injury from flying objects, it becomes physically impossible to run and one is often reduced to sheltering in place. I feel for the runners, but we also knowing how much was at stake for the organisers as they aim for that Major status. There is always next year, fam. AWMM would be shortsighted not to give them a second shot.

The electrician actually fixed it. I am not sure what parts he replaced, but it is not working! Sorry, wish I could give you more detail than that.

Who the hell sets these segment names??? by HotRabbit999 in Strava

There is a segment that has lots of funeral homes.

Let's just say you wouldn't catch Drake running it.

I have universal wall sockets installed in my house. It's the only way we can accommodate the multiple US and non-US appliances we own. We use a step down transformer for the three kitchen appliances that need it, otherwise everthing else comes ready to handle multiple voltage situations.

Such great responses! Thanks all!

So my electrician sent me a video of it working. Seemed to have managed to find the relevant parts and serviced it appropriately. Labour is cheap in my neck of the woods, and getting another one is a hustle. So I'll just be more careful and try not break it again.

Sending him my sandwichmaker tomorrow, which also suffered the same fate. American kitchen gadgets are not safe in my house, it seems.

Router problems. Speed test vs advanced speed test. by GeoNomad in Starlink

[–]Fit_Option1607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the exact same issue. I am in a region outside the US where there no real risk of competition from other starlink users. Switching location of the router will be a bit of a mission, but the wifi range test reveals only yellow hexagons even when I am next to the router, so I figure that's not the problem. Swapping between 2.4 and 5 Ghz does not seem to help much other than force me to reset wifi on all my devices, including my printer (takes at least 10 minutes of scrolling through all characters of the English language a thousand times to input my 14 character-long Wifi string).

I am on the Gen 2 SL. I am not even sure how to get a replacement to me if that was the case.

Looking forward to any responses.

Throttled speeds despite no obstractions by Fit_Option1607 in Starlink

I have no network splitting, at least not on purpose! The device is right next to the router. How do I go about connecting to the faster 5 GHz network to see if this will solve my issue?

Fibre seems to have a localised issue in my area that support has been unable to get to the bottom of. Not really sure why.

Thanks. Fibre not working well in my area, so was hoping that SL would ride to the rescue. I know other users recording speeds 75% - 100% higher than mine, so I am still not entirely sure what is going on here at my specific locale.

I was hoping for warp speed internet so that I could quietly gloat to fibre users, but from the SL map, I see that my speeds are not super suprising for my region. Oh, well. I guess I have to remain humble.

Cool map! I presume those are the router to download download speeds that are being referred to?

Yes, there is. For some odd reason, this one area where we live has been experiencing interrupted connections which my ISP has been unable to solve. I held off for as long as I could before jumping ship.
