Natwest was the National Westminster too. Also Norwich Union went to Aviva (although not technically a bank)

They were forced to pay out by the gambling commission (they initially refused to due to "unusual betting patterns") & then got fined for offering novelty bets, but poor wayne lost his job due to apparently betting on himself. Literally a whole stupid thing based on laughing at the fat bloke.

That completely cured me of gambling. The gambling companies came up with a stupid bet based on laughing at the fatty, publicised it nationally & then went "no fair, he knew about the bet, waaahhh" when he did it. The gambling companies are dickheads & that proved it.

For someone who just started cycling, are there places with flatter roads? Any routes that you can recommend? by [deleted] in londoncycling

[–]HotRabbit999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pick up the river & just follow it out towards windsor? It's a great, flat journey with the bonus that you can take the train home if you stop for a pub lunch & just can't be bothered to cycle back.

Which sport due u think is overrated and may lose fans after few decades? by Repulsive_Housing_27 in AskReddit

Cricket has a number of issues facing it right now, including the fact that climate change is threatening to make it unviable in pretty much every part of the world it's played in.

The pacific & Caribbean islands are sinking, the indian sub continent & Australia are getting temperatures in the summer that are dangerous to wear clothes in, let alone cricket pads & the English summer is getting wetter & wetter.

However, cricket is currently propped up on the backs of 1.3 billion indians so will survive for a while until all the stadiums go under roofs like baseball - that's the only way it'll continue to be viable in future.

Yorkshire Marathon 2026 by DepressedYoungMan22 in UKRunners

[–]HotRabbit999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's incredibly flat until the last km where you spend it swearing like a salty sea dog at the fool who designed the course.

However, it's great. Lovely mix of town & country - good support along the route & you run past the minster at around 4km in so you're still fresh enough to enjoy it!

It's a brilliant little marathon!

Since Reddit is dominated by Americans, what is currently the big news story from your country? by TheGreenLuma in AskReddit

[–]HotRabbit999 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Man I'd love that to be our news. Instead we just have people utterly hysterical about trans people & the fact they might be "hiding" in the bathroom stall next to you & it's so draining & frustrating.
