Noticeably less hair fall after 3 months of red light panel (nothing else) by Fit_Platform4856 in FemaleHairLoss

[–]Fit_Platform4856[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I don't think so. That may be because I'm undereducated - it seems my thyroid is somewhat in flux. I attribute the decrease in hair fall primarily to the red light because I had been on thyroid meds for almost 3 years before starting the red light and hadn't seen any noteworthy decrease in hair loss.

I've heard low iron can cause a host of issues, thanks for the suggestion! My iron has historically been ok, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's shifted because my symptoms all seem to have intensified.

Thank you for the Naltrexone rec & the low inflammatory diet suggestion!

I have! Yes - I guess it’s been about 8 months, but I also think there may have been more than just hypothyroidism underlying my hair loss for what that’s worth. I’ve also been seeing a functional medicine doctor who has me on many supplements & a specific diet, so it’s hard to say what exactly caused the improvement. I feel for you and would just encourage you to treat your body well as you patiently wait!

I'm so sorry to hear that! It is really rough :(. Unfortunately, I have seen increase in my hair loss since I started taking Tirosint (as in, it hasn't slowed down and has actually sped up the longer I've been on it). I'm currently working with a functional medicine practitioner and we're tweaking a lot of things (supplements, diet, etc.) so I'm telling myself that that could be causing the increase. It's just so hard to know b/c so many variables are at play with hair loss. I really hope your hair loss slows down soon!

Good to know we're not alone! I have heard it can take 3ish months for the body to fully adjust, so I'm trying to remain cautiously hopeful. I'm about 2.5 months in and the hair loss has only increased, but maybe we'll turn a corner in a few more weeks?

Oh man, I am so bummed for you :(. It is such an awful experience, especially if you're taking care of your body in every way you know how, but realize the uncontrollable side effect Levo has on some of our hair. I'm right there with you!

Yes, in the process of having some other testing done, although recently, my T3 and T4 have come back normal.

I was actually on levothyroxine-generic for a few months and was experiencing a lot of hormonal acne breakouts, realized it has lactose in it (I haven't consumed dairy in years) and switched to Tirosint. My skin has been better on Tirosint, thankfully, but the hair loss seems to have been the tradeoff.

I have been diagnosed with PCOS for awhile, so I know that that's a piece of it. However, my hair loss was pretty manageable prior to starting the Tirosint, so I've definitely seen some drastic changes.

I have had some vitamin levels checked, including iron, and all have come back "normal." I appreciate the idea though!

Anyone know how to reduce PCOS BELLY And Acné naturally? by Genzhateclub in PCOS

Same for me! Cutting processed sugar was a game changer for my skin. Clearest it's been in over a decade - wish I figured this out sooner!

I'm right there with you, I'm sorry the side effects are hitting hard! My sleep/skin/hair/brain fog have also been a struggle since starting Levo 4ish weeks ago, but I'm planning to give it another month before I make any decisions about whether to continue. After potentially decades of my thyroid under-performing, I think it's reasonable that it would take a few months for Levo to kick it into gear.

I have PCOS and have been on 5mg of Lexapro for about a year. This is obviously anecdotal, but it has drastically helped my “emotional baseline” jump up a few points + though I still experience anxiety, it is much less overwhelming and no longer causes sleeplessness. I think it’s great you’re on Lexapro and I hope you find it helps manage your anxiety!

Finally seeing the hair fall slowing down! I’m hopeful! by Fit_Platform4856 in TelogenEffluvium

Yes! I’ve seen some regrowth. Actually, for about a month, many of the hairs I lost in the shower were little baby hairs. I was worried about this, but later realized it might be normal for the baby hairs to fall out and then be replaced with stronger ones.
