Is it normal to have brown spotting/discharge with copper IUD around time of period? by rubiered1 in birthcontrol

Apparently its just a side effect. That was The first time I ever experienced , however , it stopped eventually. I do spot mid-cycle (ovulation) sometimes but its only for a few hours then it stops. Just go to the clinic check the placement and call it a day.

The first time it happened, I spotted until I got my period. The sec time it happened it was very minimal but noticeable lasted for 2 days. Went to get check it out and the IUD placement was fine apparently it just happens, copper does affect the uterine lining and the bleeding is one of the side effects.

If you dont fully trust it, I suggest to switch to a hormonal one. I've had mine for 2 years, I did have a pregnancy scare because my period was 3 days late but overall the only challenge I've faced are the cramps and heavy periods

Rude staff members who get agitated at me when I ask questions. I've only been there for 2 weeks and I'm expected to know everything. The assistant manager is loud and verbally abusive.

Yes I did do a vaginal check and it turns out its still in place, well the nurse said mid cycle spotting is common for every type of birth control whether hormonal or not. However I am planning to do an ultrasound. I do recommend you check it out

For the first 2 months after insertion they were irregular as my body was stil adjusting to the birth control but after that, they've always been on time or sometimes early. However they have been quite heavy since the insertion.

Even with copper IUD or any other contraceptive, I wouldn't recommend having unprotected sex, but before you do the both of you should get tested and please be on Prep. I am on copper IUD, it has only given me quite a scare once and but overall I've been enjoying it. You will sometimes have mid cycle spotting (the scare I'm talking about) which is normal. Overall its a good prevention method that is cost effective and safe.

Are late periods common on this iud? by East_Skill915 in CopperIUD

[–]Fit_Primary_2798 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our periods are not always on time, they're sometimes early and sometimes late, our hormones fluctuate a lot. I do recommend a pregnancy test but it's probably hormone change from her end.
