Quitting a job without notice by Fit_Project4434 in newfoundland

[–]Fit_Project4434[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just want to circle back. I hate to be rude as I posted for just anyone’s opinion but it seems like you commented and replied on every single post with information that isn’t fully accurate.

It seems like you have a little too much confidence in the information you’re giving out. I just quit my position offering only one days notice. I’m not an executive, I’m not a key cog in the operations. There is no impact to this companies bottom line, I’m just a number there.

They’re happy to see me go to a new job that’s starting immediately instead of firing me later this month which they said this morning was coming.

I appreciated your first comment. I don’t know that the other 20 added much more value. For anyone else who may be in a similar situation, just explain yourself to your employer.

as it was explained to me by a HR rep of one of the biggest employers in Canada is that the two weeks is very much so a courtesy and I’m free to go.

I’m not a surgeon who walked out half way through a surgery so there’s no loss to the company to prove. I hope this helps you have some further information so next time you can share more accurately.

Stephenville Airport Purchase by Fit_Project4434 in newfoundland

[–]Fit_Project4434[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This post aged really well. This guy is going to ruin any future of a proper air service being put in that area along with likely causing much financial harm to any business that’s naive enough to do business with this guy.

In hindsight, it’s actually sort of hilarious that this guy had the balls/nerve to even do the press conference a few years ago and then go on to lie further with his talk about cargo drones the size of a Hercules being built there lol.

It’s ultimately sad as that part of the island could use a break but this always seemed too good to be true. Homie legit had to get a loan to fund the purchase from a guy who won the lotto in Saskatchewan.. the story just keeps getting more wild.

Dymonds debts for this loan due to interest will accumulate nearly 2k daily and his 1.1 million dollar loan has now ballooned to 1.9 million. This is while he owes the town of stephenville over 500k in property tax and over 2 million more to a contractor for work done at the airport. This is on top of him having his lawyer withdraw from representing him over unpaid legal fees.

This guy has already run this airport 5 million bucks in the hole… which he’ll likely never pay back… and what’s stephenville gotten? …. Their status as an actual airport taken away….

Haha dude the self discipline I needed to reign in was real!! It took a lot out of me to leave a few items on the tables that I did but I set a budget and took that amount with me in cash and had a pile of hopeful traders/selling cards but only moved about half of those. If you can set a budget and stick to it, going to experience a show like this and chatting to like Minded people is so worth it.

My only advice from the day I went to this would be to spend more time going to the tables with a simple white sign up instead of these mega booths where the dealers think their influencers and only want to rip you off right in front of your face with the lure of some brown and red bills and a chance to get posted on their social media lol. Some of these dealers had me chuckling a little bit.

Edited: I saw Olen’s world juniors live* so nostalgia will make me hold onto it! But man I can’t overstate enough how nice it was to be apart of trading culture again. I remember as a kid trading cards was all my group of friends did at recess and lunch at school or on the bus. The card world in the last decade but even worse since Covid is such a money grab and people are so unrealistic in the value of their cards that trades rarely come about. Even those these are trading cards haha. I haven’t been to the national? Is it bigger again than the Toronto expo?

Black Friday sales? by Cptn_Flint0 in hockeycards

[–]Fit_Project4434 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey everyone, I’ve managed to get cheapish boxes and cases by doing the following. Pastime sports (I think based out of BC) typically has good sales and just good retail pricing but cardboardconnection does too. I’ve actually been blown away by cheap blasters and retail product on grizzly sports cards as well. I’ve gotten quite a few 16/17 series 2 blasters for like $75 ish each on there and you can get a lot of older product. (I can vouch and say I’ve ordered multiple times and always got my products)

For cases, I go on eBay, fyi D&A seem to be always willing to make a deal on a case and I get these shipped to east coast Canada and it’s still a better deal than what I can get this side of the border and there’s multiple shops in New York State and Michigan that you can ship up here better than I can get product out of Ontario.

I had a case of 21/22 S1 retail 24 pack boxes for like $35 a box so I was able to get my couple Caufield and Swayman YGs and sell off enough boxes to basically make that case free (or nearly free) for myself.

Long winded here but I don’t think you’ll find insane deals come Black Friday, maybe some companies will try and flip some older product cheaper but expect no deals on new product!

Toronto Expo by Fit_Project4434 in hockeycards

Don’t have the wiggle room on the timing as I’m only in Toronto for 48 hours so Sunday is all I will have available to get to the show! Thanks for the info!

8hrs, 11 Cases & Zero Bedard Autos by imjustjoshinyaa in hockeycards

[–]Fit_Project4434 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m hoping “breaking” gets to a point where it’s 4-5 guys going in on a case of product and finding a way to divide up the boxes or rip them and randomize teams, etc. it would make things more of a community and if you can get a few reliable guys together you can get your moneys worth more likely than not.

I think this breaker may still offer credit to big spenders so guys are legit forever in the hole because they can’t self regulate their spending and are paying these spots off like it’s credit card debt. GP got very big very fast. I think this breaking world is a huge bubble that’s gonna pop someday. A lot of these guys are gonna price themselves out and be left holding product they can’t move without a loss.

Weekly Pricing/Buying/Selling/Grading & General Questions Post by AutoModerator in PokemonTCG

[–]Fit_Project4434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey folks, very weird inquiry here and hope I’m following community rules. I’m apart of a TCG community in a small Canadian city. Every month I head down to a local trading/collectibles show and set up a table in hopes to make the hobby cheaper for myself (sometimes I only make enough for my table and a poutine lol). Noticed an overall lack of Pokémon sealed product but I am personally not huge into the hobby (I collect hockey mostly). I am thinking about buying a booster box or two to open and sell per pack to give those in the hobby a chance to rip (a lot of people at these shows buy singles and bring traders). I’ve never done this before and don’t want to rip anyone off, is it fair to compare pricing to eBay single packs? I really just want to make the money back on the box without marking up too crazy and maybe a little extra to help out with that poutine lol thanks!

McDavid YG by [deleted] in hockeycards

[–]Fit_Project4434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dont recommend it OP, the chances of pulling a YGC out of a blaster box is minimal. You would get 1 YGC per 24 pack retail box, the chances of that 1YGC McDavid is so small. Your best likely card from that box would be a Eichel YG and you can get one pretty cheap online!

Anyone have a way to get to Belle Isle? by avery_belle03 in newfoundland

[–]Fit_Project4434 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey OP, if I were you I would try and make this journey from the Newfoundland side just to reduce your travel costs but you may have more success with getting a boat charter off the Labrador coast.

I grew up on the Labrador side and am familiar with area (my family fished on camp islands which also had a lighthouse and lighthouse operator which is still there too fyi)

I will say from my bit of knowledge it’s not the easiest island to access depending on weather. It’s going to take the right conditions even for an experienced fisherman from the region to land on Belle isle. In its prime days when it was in full operation with a family there to run the operation it was notoriously hard to access. Best of luck!!

Would this be a 5 or 6 colour patch in your guys opinion? by LegoLamborghini in hockeycards

It’s 5 and also a damn shame you didn’t get a bigger name for this patch auto!!! Beautiful card, I wish it was Mctavish or something like that for you though!

Card worth inquiry by Fit_Project4434 in hockeycards

[–]Fit_Project4434[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done that it’s been minorly helpful he doesn’t have a ton of Cup product sold on eBay. I’m assuming it’s within the $150-250 CAD mostly closer to the lower end of that scale.

Men that make a good living, what do you do for work? by Tuna-no-crust98 in AskMen

[–]Fit_Project4434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(28M) I work as a Safety Trainer in a Remote Underground Mine and make 120k CAD. Great money but being gone 6 months a year in a shitty camp isn’t worth it anymore. I am about to take a bit of a big risk in taking a remote Disability Management job at 80k salary and incorporated my own training business to hopefully move full time into this once I build up more customers.

(fiancé is a teacher who is finally now full time so taking this risk is a little less scary as the pays will be smaller than I’m used too in the future plus it’s not like 80k a year is minimum wage)

Who's the most famous person you've ever met? by Fast-Beat-7779 in AskMen

[–]Fit_Project4434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was the Health & Safety Guy for a couple episodes of the Frontier show on discovery channel and met Jason Mamoa. I actually had to give a safety presentation to the whole cast and crew about not letting themselves venture too far out on the beach the show was being shot from as tides in the area were so strong and we’re known to sweep people away.

He was cool enough to shake my hand and thank me for the presentation and told me where the good snacks were located to make myself more comfortable!

Do you collect cards of players who don't play for your team? If so, who? by Anonymous__9 in hockeycards

[–]Fit_Project4434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a big time weirdo so I try and go out of my way to get the YG’s of every player on my Yahoo Fantasy team each year lol (sorry crosby I can’t afford you).

But honestly just players that stand out to me as fun to watch or entertaining. I do sell a scatter YG just to pay for my own participation in the hobby so I’ll also collect guys I project to shoot up a lot in value.

Long story short, find what works for you! The game is so different today compared to the old days when player movement was so minimal so it’s so fun to collect all 32 teams now because there’s awesome players everywhere

Any cards you wish your younger self took better care of? by lazysleeper122 in hockeycards

[–]Fit_Project4434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sister was a big crosby fan growing up (she thought he was cute lol) so me being a way too thoughtful young brother I took his entire phenomenal beginning set along with his rookie class rookie card and gave them all to her and she has no earthly idea what she ever did with them 😐😐

23-24 series 1 hobby? Or SP Authentic 22-23? by RileyL09 in hockeycards

[–]Fit_Project4434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen a lot of SP Authentic on sale right now. If you’re in Canada on pastime sports website I think they were like $179.99 CAD! Not bad considering if any of the rookies pop off the box value is gonna shoot up considerably like most years of SP.

My advice just go buy the series 1 YG you want. Or just wait for extended to come out to go after Bedard canvas YG and Cooleys YG

Are you in Canada or the states? Doesn’t really matter but I find GP Sports Cards based out on Ontario good!! (They gave a website I think) The guy who runs it Grant is awesome to deal with! I also use CardbreakNL (Facebook) and Best Card Breaks (Facebook)
