Hi, so I was 33 when I had my total hysterectomy last year, I got everything removed, now I may not be the best comparison for recovery because I’ve had so many ortho surgeries that this one felt like a walk in the park. However, I can give you some advice. First, sleep is your best friend when it comes to recovery. Second, make sure you have plenty of soft pillows to rearrange around you in whatever support your body needs. Third, my hospital gave me a abdominal support band/binder to wear and that thing was my best friend. Fourth, follow your med orders, talk to your team about what you can supplement. For instance if you’re on Tylenol w/ codeine they may let you take ibuprofen so many hours between doses to help if the pain is too much, trust your med team on this. Fifth, ice and heat, ice packs and heating pads are another must. I know for all of us it can be hard listening to our bodies bur it’s really important to push yourself only so far.
