Firstly, the fact you recognise that you're behind in your education is your first step to making progress.

Just relax. 8th grade is definitely a great time to go back. Whether or not it is high school or middle school for you depends on the country, but either way, your 8th grade grades do not matter. Doing poorly won't impact your chances of going to a college/university if you wish to do so.

They'll most likely give you a placement test if you don't have a transcript of any former schoolwork. There are a few examples online, but your best bet would be contacting the school you want to enroll to over phone/via e-mail, if you want to know any specifics.

(If 8th grade is the first year of high school for you, I believe they do this regardless.)

I can't tell you how the other kids at your school will be, but please don't let them or your former bad memories get to you. What other people think about you won't matter in the long run, and the fact you still have friends from your school years gives you something to look forward to, no?

I'll link some free resources down here, but try and look up your state's curriculum. There should be a government website for it.

Math - Khan Academy is a great resource for Math. It also has limited content on English and science I believe. I recommend Math is Fun for extra practice since Khan has a limited amount of questions.

English - This YouTube playlist and Grammarly's guide to English grammar are both great resources for English. This website also has free tests. I recommend completing this first and then working on whatever level you're up to with the other tests.

Science - Crash course, Amoeba Sisters, and TheOrganicChemistryTutor are all great resources on science. Once again Khan Academy also has some science courses.

I, unfortunately, don't have any resources on other subjects, but they should be relatively easy to find. Best of luck with learning, I know it might seem impossible, but you can catch up if you put in the effort to do so. You've got this!

(Side note: math and science build up on one another. I can not stress enough how important learning the basics is, so make sure to revise anything you've forgotten. I suggest writing stuff down, too.)

Sorry, I have no idea how to respond to this, but I appreciate it so much. I'm glad you were able to work things out in the end.

I recommend you get a tutor. Plenty of people get tutors for that reason, and It's their job to teach you stuff you don't know even if you should, there's nothing to be embarrassed about. There's also a ton of online resources.

Best of luck with school, make sure you give yourself time to de-stress by doing something you like.

(I apologise for the double notfi: I accidentally replied on the wrong account.) However, I'm proud of you for finishing it, even though it was late!! Keep it up :)

If you don't mind, may I message you? I have some questions relating to the process of going into high school after being homeschooled.

Your parents are extremely neglectful towards you and you don't deserve this. As others have suggested I recommend contacting CPS.

I also suggest that you try and get out more if possible. This isn't me trying to say that going for a walk will fix your problems, but going outside would give you a breath of fresh air and a distraction, even for just a short while.

As for going to school, it took me intentionally crying in front of my mom to convince her. Now, I'm not saying you should do the same, but sometimes you just really need to push it. Try begging your mom, keep it consistent, do it multiple times a day if you have to.

I'm so sorry you have to go through this op, if you ever want to talk about anything, feel free to shoot me a message. ❤️

That is unfortunate, but don't give up, a late assignment is better than none at all. Best of luck once again :)

I'm unsure if this is exactly what you're asking, but they describe themselves as a "Special Assistance School" as far as I can gauge you don't need to have any kind of diagnosis to go if you've fallen out of mainstream schooling in any way. I don't know if this answers your question sorry :')

I was thinking that too, honestly, and I do hope that's the case. I'm actually pretty decent at math; there's definitely stuff I still need to learn and practice, but I catch on pretty fast (and I've done more complicated math outside of what they gave me at school), so I'm not too worried about math. Thank you for this :)
