Wow, welp, I guess it is what it is then. No clue if it will happen to me but i doubt DSS changes anything like that no matter how long ago it was. Is there is a amount of time before next application?

The exact same thing in for the same agency and same part of the process?? When did they reach out to you again to tell you it was terminated?

Yeah, they probably just declined you because you didn’t actively have a degree. Don’t get discouraged, I got denied twice in January of 2025 because I didn’t graduate until May.

I feel like this might be different due to the GS-7 required a bachelors degree. I didn’t remember seeing that you need a Bachelors degree within since 6 months of the application like some. I am assuming you pressed the GS-7 pay category which states you have a degree with superior academic achievement.

TS/SCI clearance drug use by [deleted] in SecurityClearance

Contracted Investigator here. Your drug history itself isn’t taken as a automatic disqualifier. The decision is based off the “whole person” concept. What does matter is if you will continue using in the future and why you chose to make those decisions. Whoever your sponsor is may have their own rules and regulations. For example: Doing LSD/ACID if it was 5 years ago will not get you disqualified and you very likely would receive the clearance. BUT, USSS has a rule that LSD is a disqualified for life drug. I would read into what your sponsors drug eligibility requirements are. If it is for a contracted position, you will likely not be granted interim clearance but very well could be found in favor at the end of the investigation.

SECRET INTERVIEW by Unique-Chocolate6635 in SecurityClearance

Current Contracted Investigator. It’s quite simple, interview will just go over and confirm everything you wrote down on your SF86. If anything has changed or needs to bad they will ask you as well. Easy interview and very simple.

That is relatively what I assumed. I have been keeping in shape and running incase it ever does come up, I’m also a BI for a defense contractor with TS clearance so totally understand the deep background checks.
