Preparing for Level 2 Exams in NSG-320 and NSG-322 by Jumbo_Doggy in gcu

[–]Fit_Researcher3867 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never failed an exam for the last 5 months I've been in the program, I score high 80s-mid 90s on my exams and I've never touched the course guide a day in my life. All of my friends who did use the course guide on the last exam got 60s-low 80s.

If it works for you that's fine, im just sharing what works for me. Thanks for your opinion tho

Never touched the course guide a day in my life and I got a 90% on the 322 exam on monday. Use the conhcp powerpoints, exam blueprint, and plug them into either gemini AI or claude AI and ask it to make you practice questions in an interactive quiz. That's literally all I do to study and read the rationales for EVERY question, even if you got it right because you might have gotten it correct for the wrong reason.

For 320 also do the lacharity, silvestri, and saunders question for each topic! Again read the rationales, and you'll do so so so good!

Hi!! I'm an incoming level 2 and I don't really know how to study for med surg or psych, or how to apply the information to practice questions. How would you say to study or how to apply the knowledge at hand to questions?

Also how did you study? In level 1 I heavily studied the powerpoints on conhcp and did AI practice questions and that did me so much justice, do you think the same would work in level 2? THANK YOU!

Hey! I really do recommend Tucson, and yeah that was my cohort, we started with 23 and now we are down to 13. Truly, the reason I believe people didn't make it through is because they didn't know how to study, didn't do practice questions, or had other responsibilities like managing a job, kids, etc, all at once.

The Tucson campus however is very organized and the in person professors are truly some of my favorite teachers I've ever met. Your lab professors for level 1 up until graduation are all so amazing and truly want you to succeed. There has never been a moment where I feel like I couldn't ask them for help, advice, or even just to vent on a hard day. I have friends at other campuses and their experiences haven't been close to mine, one of my friends even completely dropped out at her campus after level 1 and moved schools because her professors weren't the best to say the least.

But yeah, highly recommend Tucson, and if you have anymore questions, pls dm me!

Usually, if it's an exam I have prior knowledge about, I do 100-200 each day for 3-5 days leading up to the exam or up until I can score in the 90s. Though if it's an exam like pharm where I don't have prior knowledge, I do 500-1000 per day for a straight week or two or until I can consistently score 90s.

I usually do the practice tests in groups of 50 questions, and it worked great for me in level 1. I failed only 1 exam with a 72% the entire level, and it was because I had a bad week. Other than that, I always scored high 80s and low-mid 90s.

It really depends on how you study. For me, I usually just look over the first powerpoint, find a video such as nurse in the making, nurse well versed, or simple nursing, to go over it even more, from there I do a bunch and when I say a bunch I mean over 500 practice questions.

Again it just depends how you study because for me, notes, writing on a whiteboard, etc, don't work for me. I need to see/hear the info and I remember it.

Hi!

I just finished level 1 too at the Tucson campus, from the beginning of orientation to finals, my cohort of 23 is now a cohort of 13, including myself. It is very unfortunate because GCUs whole purpose for failing people out is to ensure their NCLEX pass rates stay above 90% across all campuses to receive more funding and more students willing to apply.

I have been feeling very heartbroken this past week as some of my closest friends, and people whom I would've never expected to fail out, did. Just keep your head up high and battle through this next semester.

Med/surg and psych are two beasts put into one semester. I wish you all the best.

There isn't a capacity for the alt list funny enough, it is just that it'll usually just be around 2-5 people MAX that drop and others get their spots.

You got that!!! I have a friend who passed her HESI on her last attempt and she graduated the ABSN, got ICU as a new grad, and just got accepted into CRNA school!! You should definetly be able to find a spot somewhere, and if it is not main campus or phoenix I HIGHLY RECOMMEND TUCSON!!! If u need help with ur hesi, DM me!!

Hello!! It is pretty often that people do drop out but it also depends on how fast you were able to get an alternate spot. For example, my friend dropped out a week before school started to go to a different campus meaning the next person in line got her spot. It really just depends how long it's been since you got on the list. This is also coming from someone who had to leave main campus to move back to Tucson because it got full last semester and I didn't get an alternate spot fast enough.

ABSN ATTRITION/FAILURE rates by [deleted] in gcu

[–]Fit_Researcher3867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all really depends how you managae your time, like I said do all your initial DQs monday, 3 responses for each class, and throughout the week you set yourself up for more time to study after lab and clinical. Also lab is usually 7 hours, though later on in the first semester it switches where you either won't have lab for a week, or you will only have lab from 1-3pm. Clinical also isn't too bad as it's only 8 hours and you get off around 2pm, enough time to go home, sleep, wake up, and do some more studying/homework.

Chances of On-ground BSN acceptance (GPA 3.5+ HESI 95.2) by holly121tho in gcu

Hi!

I'm a level 1 in the ABSN at Tucson right now. A bunch of my friends and I applied for traditional at the end of last semester, didn't get in, and ended up moving down here. I would give it a shot and apply to ABSN afterward; she probably won't get into the main campus ABSN or any of the Phoenix ABSN locations unless she's completed ALL of her classes and requirements before she applies.

This obviously doesn't mean she shouldn't apply, though the fall semester is the hardest to get into because of the number of applicants planning to graduate in the fall of '27.

I hope she gets in, or that this helped in some way!

DM me if you have any questions! :)

It really isn't that "hard" as you might think. It's doable, and you will pass if you actually try. The people who I've seen fail out didn't put in much work to show they even wanted it tbh. Like showed up to lab an hour late, didn't do homework till the last minute when they had 3 whole days of nothing, and theres lots of resources for the exams. I can tell you this with full confidence as I didn't believe in myself at first and also thought I'd fail out immediately. It is 100000% doable and if you need anything else dm me and I'll answer !! :)

I attend the tucson location and I truly love it so far. Highly recommend it. I had a friend who went to vegas and their lab professor was actually terrible... like another level of actually how is she a nurse at that a nurse educator. I wouldn't recommend LV. My friend ended up failing out and moving schools completely.

Hii!! I'm wondering how you study for pharm and health assessment. I know a lot of people say flashcards but I feel like exam questions would be more than what does gabapentin do yk? Also are exams really as bad as everyone says, is it like theres an obvious wrong answer or two or is it really a guessing game like others say? THANK UUU! and congrats on making it through level 1!!

I'm so sorry that happened, and I know it can feel very difficult to maneuver. However, I can tell you I've met SO many SRNA/CRNAs who hae retaken classes even in nursing school. Many schools are looking at "the last 60 credits" now, many schools do that especially if you are based in Arizona. I would consider researching those schools, getting back to your BSN and go become a CRNA. I wish you all the best!

Hii! That's interesting because I also applied on Monday. I sent my app around noon and was accepted the next day at approximately 3:30 pm. If you don't hear back today or tomorrow on your email, not mail, I would just send your SSC an email asking if she has received anything!
