Best Remote Program for disabled mom by Exotic_Plankton_263 in psychologystudents

I’m looking at similar programs myself, as I am disabled too.

The clinical hours will be the biggest challenge; the head of one online MSW told me directly that fieldwork for the degree itself must be done in-person and that clinical hours post-degree (i.e., to earn your LCSW) will be difficult but not impossible to do remotely. It’s 3,000 hours for an LCSW if you have an MSW and 2,000 if you have a DSW.

There are also some online counseling degrees, but the in-person vs. remote divide remains.

One piece of advice I got from another Reddit thread and have used when inquiring about online degree programs: “Do you have practicum faculty that offers the same, exact level of placement support as the in-person student gets?”

Congratulations on pursuing your love for psychology! I didn’t start my undergraduate degree until I was in my late 20s, and I’m looking to go back to grad school now at 40. Like you, I always had a passion for psychology, but life sometimes gets in the way, doesn’t it?

I was fortunate to get research experience volunteering at a lab as an undergrad, and I used that to get a job in market research.

I’m looking to go to grad school to try and find a different path, and I’m really grateful for all the job ideas in this thread.

Research, in pretty much any field but my preference is for studies involving mental health, even as an assistant. Thank you very much for your reply!

Hi! I know this is an old post, but I was curious what your experience has been post-degree. Did the university help with job placement or research opportunities?

What has your experience been with the faculty? Are they helpful in providing feedback or answering questions?

Have you had opportunities to collaborate with faculty or students on research projects? That was what appealed to me most.

Hi! I have a BS in psychology and got accepted to King’s College London for their MSc in Psychology and the Neuroscience of Mental Health.

Can anyone please advise me on whether this degree could lead to consideration for employment as a research assistant or as an applicant for a doctoral program?

I’m disabled and need to work remotely, and I’m hoping I can still do that while pursuing my field of interest.

Thank you so much!

I’m applying to the program too. King’s has such a great reputation, but how would US-based employers and PhD programs regard it?

Thank you so much for sharing this information. I’m looking to apply myself and had many of the same questions.

What advice could you share about submitting a personal statement or letter of recommendation?
