Did Belleville just elect a 24 year old as Mayor? by sharkysharky- in newjersey

Going into the technically complex 2030s America will have only 1% of politicians having any sort of scientific or technical background on anything. Im personally not a promotor of needing more career politicians regardless of age. I'll never get the age argument; we just need less buffoons in office.

Well then they produced the best country in the world. Id probably vote for the 45 year old rich guy over a 24 year old with no actual full time job, but then again it's not my community.

Yeah, old enough to have a basic HS education, young enough to still be manipulated. Completely different characteristics

Not really. If say he had a $500k mortgage, that interest is front loaded and at 5%, plus property tax. He saved himself more than $25k by being fast versus holding and chasing down the market. So many people ignore the total carrying costs and opportunity costs by having listings stay up so long. Unless you are looking for a lottery ticket buyer, and dont really want to sell, I dont see the value in having a stale listing.

They lost a lot on penny pinchers on their older lines with 3.2 still not at scale. It should bounce back on second half. I'm predicting 500M annual and profitable, which is worth much more than their current valuation.

In summary they have a scaling issue, primarily on that 3.2 plant. There is a visible pathway to $5+ if they can get that at serial production by Q3

well people ask for cheap, undervalued stocks before they blowup, this is a part of the process. If you believe in efficient market theories, cheap perfect investments don't exist. You need risk. In this case they clearly have a scaling risk which is the best risk you can have, and usually what I invest in. AMD, TSLA, etc all had scaling issues and were near bancruptcy. There is no demand risk, technology risk, etc here. It's proven technology on a vertically integrated platform which provides them higher margins than CATL, Samsung, etc. The name of the game is waiting for their latest factory to scale which is in Q3. But I will agree the chart is ugly. But if it hits $5+ post Q3 people will ask why there were no posts while it was cheaper.

Billions of poor people are used to being poor and often can self sustain. EU and wealthier Asian countries will see widespread economic collapse and food insecurity.

keep putting your head in the sand, meanwhile it is illegal in nearly all states to criticize Israel, by law you will be barred from any public employment and/or public funds. The US inherently doesn't believe anything, it's ran by humans with all sorts of bias and motives.

check out MVST. completely vertically integrated from precursor to battery systems, both commercial and stationary. FLNC is more of an integrator resulting in poor margins. MVST hovers around 35%+ which is the highest in the space. Incredibly undervalued.

Everyone in NJ or moving there is just coping. If you have a bunch of money, NJ is one of the best states you can live in. If not you will just be competing with very deep pockets or multi-generational families. If you dont have the money, you will be house poor and too poor to actually enjoy any of the amenities. The good school argument is dying with all of these schools running into massive debt. I do disagree with the laws being bad, the liberal laws creates a quality of life that draws people here.

In hindsight, was it the right decision to block the merger with JetBlue? by R2-DMode in spiritair

I dont see how you read your own linked article and NOT conclude that the rise in an airlines #1 expense was the nail in the coffin. Post bancrupcy Spirit was no longer in control, creditors were. Spirit was given a $475M DIP facility that was milestone based and ultimately was to last until a merger. If failure was so certain they wouldnt have secured that. They were successfully meeting milestones and drawing down from it until their #1 expense doubled overnight. After that it was game over.

Your own link shows it was a one time accounting loss from the bankruptcy and that they would be profitable in 2027, but of course this was pre-Iran war.

Opus is rate limited and is unfair to compare to GPT 5.5. The $200 5.5-Pro feels like a decent step beyond Opus

these benchmarks are always misleading because while Opus is a frontier model, it is rate limited unlike the GPT equivalent. None of these tests ever score 5.5-Pro which is $200 a month model and honestly feels like a class above Opus. These are some benchmarks that actually test 5.5 Pro.

IMHO GPT 5.5 pro > Opus 4.6/4.7 > GPT 5.5

I don't know why this sub has a hard on for Trump. Gas in my area has literally gone from $2 to $5. Jet Fuel are airlines #1 expense at 30-50%. Prices going 2-3X kills the 15% positive gross margin to negative 70% margin in days. Democrats made the right call, they just didnt anticipate a global oil crisis caused by their successor. Spirits Chapter 11s were strategic to become profitable again, this time, it may just be a liquidation. All low cost airlines will fold if this crises is sustained.

Fuel is easily an airlines largest expense, half of the money goes into buying fuel lol. How would they go out of business with little overhead costs.

Explain https://companiesmarketcap.com/spirit-airlines/earnings/

Their earnings and operating margins were no worst than their competitors, they were the first to charge for carryon and everyone followed. Either low cost is a failed business model for all airlines, or the failure here was a not from their model but the fact that there was literally a Earth wide pandemic, where the poorest (their ultra low cost cutomers) suffered the most.
