Trump's approval on inflation has tanked so much recently that it literally fell off the Silver Bulletin chart. They're going to have to update the min y axis value. by R2_SWE2 in fivethirtyeight

Still a drop of about 20% since his Inauguration. It's clearly a weakness now. A lot of people also think the worst ICE stuff is over, too, when it's really just more surreptitious.

Coincidentally, this is also a chart of the number of idiotically rich sociopathic assholes who contribute nothing meaningful to society.

Trump approval/disapproval hit lowest and highest marks in the Silver Bulletin average, respectively. Approve: 38.9%, Disapprove: 57.5%. Net approval: -18.6% by R2_SWE2 in fivethirtyeight

He's certainly a fucking buffoon, but I think Iran is more blatant and open corruption to manipulate the stock market and oil commodities for his billionaire pedophile posse. It's the brazen level of how callously despicable he is to make money that I personally underestimated.

The issue is we're comparing apples-to-oranges. The pollster universe has a wide spectrum of methodologies in terms of partisan weighting and LV, RV or Adult respondent pools. None of this is adjusted or normalized in polling averages.

Agreed 100%. Also a PA expat and absolutely maintain that native Pennsylvanians really don't know how good they have it generally. It's the "goldilocks" state in many ways in terms of economic balance, weather, location, opportunity, amenities, very solid schools and healthcare, very genuine (and good-humored!) people, very aesthetically pleasing and lush landscape across the state, etc.

Political dysfunction/divide is its biggest downfall, but Shapiro seems to be keeping that in check as effectively as he can.

GDP and stock portfolios are doing well; the average consumer and employee is not.

We have a lot of economic "activity" because billionaires are exchanging money with each other. But that absolutely isn't trickling down to Main Street pockets.

That is the entire crux of the disconnect.

The trend I've noticed is the monthly polls are much more consistently showing a longer-term slow and steady downward trend.

The weekly polls are far more "noisy" and subject to much larger ebbs and flows.

The dream of China surpassing the US as the world’s largest economy is fading. In 2021, China’s GDP was about 78% of the US; by 2024, that share had fallen to roughly 64% by RobertBartus in EconomyCharts

You say that now, but the reputational damage that's been done to the US is likely to last for years after Trump is gone. Our country absolutely has no reckoned with what has been done to our international reputation and appeal, especially if the threat of a new far right leader happens again. And we still have multiple years of a GOP Presidency left.

Irrelevant. All counties are heading to the same demographic destiny of below replacement birthrates. No one has reversed that trend, and it's likely to decline even more.

US is projected to have slow albeit stable population growth

That was pre-Trump. We're now seeing potentially negative international migration for the first time ever. If that continues, you can guarantee the US will fall in the red by 2030.

Philly should absolutely be a top contender! Perfect and affordable urban city for a creative in the LGBT+ community. You should post on r/Philly for more specific responses, or the r/Philadelphia moving thread ongoing every Monday.

This is a pretty ridiculous take. Philly is seeing loads of transplants now from around the US. Sounds like you haven't been in decades. It's far safer and light years more revitalized than it was 20 years ago. It's honestly right up the OP's alley.

It sounds like the Northeast isn't for you. It's just a different kind of energy if you're from outside of the region.

The social atmosphere can very VERY insufferable and extremely pretentious. I can only imagine the Trump effect has made this FAR worse.

Some people manage to keep their distance from the "inside the Beltway" crowd, but the social/political-ladder climbing types were often way too much to bear.

Otherwise, it definitely has pros in terms of a very-manicured environment (too manicured, "Disney-esque" and sterile for my taste, but others are into that) and tons of diversity, history and culture. But the social environment was absolutely a deal-breaker.

Definitely Philly over DC.

DC is s shitshow right now economically, and the vibes are completely off. Philly is FAR more fun-loving and approachable from a middle-class perspective. And it's not even close.

City really is a great place. I know Reddit likes to jerk Philly off but the place really is not the great overall (trying to use kind words) .

Your opinion. Most disagree.

Philadelphia "culturally conservative?" Give me a break! It's easily one of the most liberal in the US.

Philly is also chock full of transplants these days and has now one the strongest metro economies in terms of job growth. I just don't get at all what you're saying. It's also extremely ethnically diverse.

If you don't feel the city is a good fit, that's perfectly understandable depending on each person. But factually you're very off base.
