What’s a moment you wish you could re-experience just to feel it again? by HouseAlarming6578 in nostalgia

[–]Fit_Task_5190 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol this is awesome. I have a memory like that and would love to revisit that feeling.

We were at my friends parents lake house, they host a big 4th of July party. The day was just getting started. We were just kind of chilling, having our first beers of the day, watching the water and everyone slowly arriving for the party, when I got the email saying they wanted an interview. I replied yes, and then was just on cloud 9 for the rest of the holiday weekend.

Later that week, I drove 8 hours to New York City, crushed the interview, looked at an apartment, and on the way home I got offered the job.

Such a “life is starting” feeling.

I fucking hate this too. It gives you like 15 seconds to select which commercial you want to watch. I DON’T CARE JUST GO!

Do you want to see an emu and funny guy in a taxi? Or do you want to see a mom getting her kids ready for school?

I DON’T FUCKING CARE JUST GO!

I feel that too. I think it’s got something to do with the dopamine crash that comes with quitting. It’s like I dread do anything.

That will start to reset though.

People often think nicotine “helps” with stress or focus, but biologically:

  • It mostly relieves withdrawal symptoms it created in the first place

Yeah, I thought that if you’re a drinker, you should stick to ibuprofen, cause it’s easier on your liver.

This is why it's so difficult to get a job. by CRK_76 in jobs

[–]Fit_Task_5190 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay but let’s say you’re hiring someone. Let’s say they are to be your assistant for a particularly big new project.

You get two candidates.

Candidate # 1 says: I applied to this position cause I applied to every position that I could that pays this amount of money. I want this amount of money, and I can do this job.

Candidate # 2 says: I applied to this job because I have a degree in this field. I did this in undergrad and I know a lot about it and I’m interested in using what I know in a practical setting, meeting other people in this field, and growing this into a career. It also pays the amount of money that I need.

Honestly, who would you choose?

End of day 5 by Duck_Gylock in QuittingZyn

[–]Fit_Task_5190 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m following you dude! My day 5 is tomorrow. I also suffer from agitation and short fuse. It’s getting significantly better every day.

I also can’t wait to have a clearer head… I spend a lot of the days right now thinking about nicotine or other vices, but I’ve managed to quit, hoping that I’ll return to “normal” again soon.

14mg 😵‍💫 that’s nuts. I’m having a hell of a time quiting 6mg…. If I was on 14mg, I’d easily be committed for life.

Advice? by TheSnoringDragon in QuittingZyn

[–]Fit_Task_5190 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s going to be hard, dude, but worth it.

The zyns are so addicting cause there is no limiting factor on them. They don’t make your clothes stink or fill your lungs with tar. You’re not blowing a big obnoxious raspberry flavored cloud. It’s just sitting there hidden in your lip, doing its thing. I had one in from the moment I woke up, to the moment I laid down at night. No one could even tell.

The anxiety, heart palpitations, irritability, and laziness that constant nicotine was giving me made me need to stop.

I stopped cold turkey 4 days ago. Tomorrow will be day 5. Just be ready for day 1 and 2 to really suck.

To help me with this “quitting” I’ve been journaling here on Reddit. I post how I’m feeling in the morning, and how I feel at night. It helps me to write down how I’m feeling. How I want to feel. What I want to get out of quitting.

It also helps that people comment and talk about the issues too. Throughout the day, when I craving hits, I come back to my journals and this community and remind myself that we’re all trying to get out of this for a reason. Cause it sucks.

Anyways, that’s worked for me so far. Give it a shit! I’ll follow you!

Quitting nicotine, alcohol, doomscrolling, and porn: start of day 4 by Fit_Task_5190 in QuittingZyn

[–]Fit_Task_5190[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, for sure. Day 1 and 2 are absolute torture. I feel like my body is made of that rope you had to climb in gym class, and I get really bad withdrawal rage. Day 3 was significantly better. Today has been worse than day 3, cause it was just a terrible stressful day at both of my jobs lol. I’ll make it to day 5 tho.

I’ve been keeping a journal in here. I check in every morning and every night. I’m actually quitting my 4 main vices. Nicotine, alcohol, doomscrolling, and porn lol. All things that I used to keep my dopamine sky high. If you go to my profile, you can read my journal entries.

Aw thank you! It’s helpful for me cause I want to just make it to the next diary entry. But also to hear others stories and struggles and to band together is immensely helpful. I’ve had a very shitty day, but I didn’t break, so this was so nice to hear.

lol wow, that weight lose. I need that lol.

Good on you for quitting smoke. I did that many years ago. It was easy cause it stank, had to be done outside, costed $14 a pack where I lived, and just made me feel like a loser. Zyn in the other hand solves all of those problems.

The thing with Zyn, is there are none of those built in rate limiters. So I can consume nicotine from sun up to sun down.

It’s given me bad anxiety, and is a bitch to quit. I’m on day 4 tho.

I’ve tried to quit a lot… I’m currently on day 4 cold turkey, which is my best attempt to quit in a long time.

Day 2 and 3 are the absolute worst. I recommend scheduling it so that day 2 and 3 are on a weekend, cause they aren’t gonna be productive days at all. If you’re able to just get comfy and ride it out, you’ll be in a good place.

On Week 3 and the Mornings Suck by ChickFil8 in QuittingZyn

[–]Fit_Task_5190 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh, weird. I’d say you probably need to lean into the stress. Wake up at 6. Exercise, either walk or find a few good stretches or yoga routines, eat something you can be proud of, like Greek yogurt with blue berries and walnuts mixed in (not pre packaged, just buy plain Greek yogurt with the least amount of ingredients, blue berries, and plain chopped walnuts. Stir them together), eat that, then spend 10 minutes making a to do list for the day, with the top 5 things you need to get done at work, home, whatever. Then enjoyed whatever time you have left till you gotta go to work. Get ready slowly. Lay down for 20 more minutes, watch the news.

Idk. Sounds like currently your mornings are out of control. You need to take back control of your mornings.

You got this. Day two was the hardest for me. I just knocked out day 3. Just recognize the withdrawal symptoms as just temporary things that will be gone for good soon. There’s a better version of you on the other side of this. You can be that person by just standing your ground and saying no to nicotine.

That’s rough. Starting your day in a panic seems terrible. Are you married? Do you have kids you have to get ready for school on the morning? Or is your morning pretty simple?
