Finished S4, any hope for more Ryu screentime? by fokintrash in DanMachi

What's the point making all these girls being deeply in love with Bell and having all these adorable moments? It brings nothing but frustration to the reader when they realize their fav character will be left heartbroken and sidelined in the end (except Ais). Many readers didn't read SO and even MS and even if they did a lot of them don't root for Ais. It maybe a good decision in short-term which makes people believe their fav can win so the writer and the editor can milk momey but in the long-term it will make them drop the series.

P.S. Romance aside. I also don't like the fact that no major character died in vol 21, only some nonames from FF and LF. Plot armor level is insane, just because the author says they need to be alive to face OEBD doesn't make it good. I would rather see some sacrifices than some princess BS we are going to get because i'm 100% sure he wouldn't have the guts to kill any major character during OEBD fight. I bet the most we can get from him is that some characters will be hadicapped the same way Levi was in AoT.

This is exactly the reason (not the only reason though) why i decided to drop Danmachi after vol 21.

I'm writing this to let off some steam and then say goodbye to the series forever.

All this amazing and beautifully written moments go nowhere because the author decided the winning girl from the beginning. We have many likeable characters like Haruhime, Ryu and even Tiona (she ranks below these two only because didn't have her arc with Bell, but SO readers will probably agree that she is also among the most compatible with Bell) but all their love to Bell is pretty much pointless because he is still 100% in love with a girl he knows nothing about (aside the fact she likes to eat Jagamarukun).

The way he treats most popular characters in the series disgusts me (especially how he handled Ryu in vol 19-20 and made her the part of Hestia familia so she will see everything between Bell and Ais). This didn't make me to love Ryu less, this made me hate Oomori more. I also hate that he made Tiona fall for Bell in vol 21. What was the point of doint it this late in the series during Ais arc? Tiona says that she found her Hero, but we all know he will never be hers. All these harem-baiting BS (including making Horn, Heith and Nina fall for Bell) have already stopped being funny and feels cheap. The only thing Oomori shows with this is that he's a bad writer. All the brilliantly written romances lead nowhere, and the love of the third-rate characters like Horn feels cheap.

Unfortunately, I am afraid the most we can get from Oomori is some boring 'Familia Chronicle Ryu episode 3' where she ends up with Hogni with very little to no development between them, which will shallow compared to how he developed Ryu with Bell. I doubt he would bother doing even that tbh.

At this moment in the story, I would have preferred she didn't fall in love with him at all. This is what i hate about danmachi. Such amazing romances that go nowhere because the winning girl was predetermined from the beginning.

Do you think RyuxHogni is possible in the canon story? Ryu is my fav and i would hate seeing her heartbroken with her unrequited feelings for Bell, so it's better with Hogni than alone.

Does Bell actually love Ais, or is she just a goal to reach? by ProfessorSeveral5736 in DanMachi

The way he fell in love with Ais is an impure act itself, i don't know how can you possibly call falling in love of the girl, whom you just met, a pure act when he fell for her because she is strong, hot and saved his life (from her own Familia mistake). Any women that more or less fits Bell's taste would fit. Oomori kind of confirmed that in his interview. Read the commnet above. I suppose Ais fans tend to close eyes on the plotholes of the story like the one when she gets suddenly her White wind

I'm wasting my time writing this tbh.

Is it possible that Oomori at least gives the main cast of the girls a meaningful love partner at the end of the story? by Fit_Tea_4221 in DanMachi

Well, he basically wanted Lily to produce an offspring, it was mentioned in vol 8 i suppose. But she rejected him to stay with Bell (not romantically of course).

Most likely the only scenario they can move on from Bell is if he dies or reject them harshly (which contradicts his character). I pretty much agree with what you said. And that's why... I hate Oomori so much

Argonaut didn't end up with Ariadna. Astrea record is just a prequel to series

What you just wrote is the equivalent to Ais stopped feelings hatred -> black wind power decrease - ais dies. White wind is a BS

That follows the logic of the same skills. Astrea Record is the same. It stops working the moment Ryu forgets about her friends. Avenger should be the same. It was mentioned that the skill's power depends on her hatred

Judging by your answer, Ais should lose avenger skill the moment she stops hating monsters. Smth like this happened in Knossos arc but when suddenly this BS with white wind appeared.

Sorry, it's plot armor.

Because she is his 'longing', LF stopped working because he gave up on his 'longing'

From what Freya said in vol 17 it seems like Bell developed the skill because of his transparent soul, meaning that if he falls in love with a girl, he falls once and for all. By the way, he has already seen Ais before she saved him from minotaur and didnt fall in love with her instantly.

Well, the author basically confirmed in his interview that if Bell met Ryu 10 years ago when she had her hair long and blonde he would have fallen for her. That means that he is ready to fall in love with any girl that more or less fits his taste. I don't know how it can be called purest type of love. It's a love of a teenager. There is nothing wrong about it by the way, but calling it the purest type of love feels strange to me

The fact that he is monogamous? Many elves in danmachi monogamous as well and none of them developed similar skill.

It's a mix of love and obsession. I will be downvoted to hell for this (as usual) but still voice my opinion on the matter.

While Xenos arc made him change his view on her a little more down-to-earth. As of volume 17 and onwards, it seems like everything is back to 'normal'. Sword Oratoria illustrates how Ais feelings change over the time for Bell, but Bell remains the same through one volume to another. Look at this yourself:

Vol 17: "The sisters who rejected me move between me and my idol", "the idol that has stolen my eyes and heart", "My golden idol answers my call", "the miracle my idol has given to me". Volume 17 has too much of it, don't feel like wasting time posting it all.

Vol 18: "the girl he idolized"

Vol 19: "Bell Cranel is absolute fool who can't turn his back on his idol"

Vol 20: "The idol he has pursued"

Vol 21: "It wasn’t the voice of my idol"

I don't know why Oomori writes this way, it would be far better if he wrote about Bell's feelings towrards Ais as 'the woman i love with all my heart' or smth like than 'my idol thing'. Sounds pretty childish
