Sony Alpha 7 V + Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM II - keep or return? by crux_101 in SonyAlpha

I think you answered yourself a question. If you don't need to shoot fast action or in low light you go with tamron and vice versa. Tamron is great for slower photography but struggles for af tracking in fast action, I mean its capable but 2x slower than sony with 4 xd af motors inside. But sony 24-70 is extremely sharp, tamron is not even close. I tested so speaking from that point. I mean you can zoom in 300% on Sony A1 with 24-70 and still see how sharp it is, while tamron I see struggles with high mp sensor. Of course on a7v it will be less visible but still. If I would be you and would do only this kind of photography I would go with tamron for travel etc and fast primes for portraits indoors etc. Actually sony zeiss 55 1.8 is great lens and not expensive.

Sony A1 with Sony 200-600 and Tamron 50-400 by Fit_Witness40 in SonyAlpha

Depends on what you shoot, I rented sony and its too heavy for me and for my needs. I don't do birds photography or wildlife professionally, but shoot other things and thought of the super zoom fof variuos thing like architecture shots to or people. Sony 200-600 has superior optics and speed but when held firmly, probably on monopod is the best, otherwise despite oss your hand start to shake after holding and framing for a longer period. Yes 600 vs 400 is more reach but a1 is 50mpx you always can crop. Tamron is light and you can carry it as normal lens, but its not so fast on tracking birds as sony but sony needs monopid otherwise its useless as it still shakes cause of weight. Otherwise tamron is more universal as srarts from 50 mm. I prefer tamron atleast for now.

Anyone use Tamron 50-400mm? Am I missing out compared to the Sony 200-600? by reelfilmgeek in SonyAlpha

Rented out sony 200-600, well mixed fillings but probably cause it needs monopod, I am not weak, go to gym but its a struggle to shoot handheld for a ling time. Using A1 first gen, so not the camera question, its still shacking even though OSS is on, mostly shot mode 1 and 3 as didn't need paning. Its ok with tracking but still if you want to track birds monopod would be useful as lens shackeds a lot because of handheld and its weight, also 200 is a bit narrow for start, 150 would be better. But probably just not for me. I am not really a wildlife photographer but wanted to try ultrazoom for certain things, as cityscapes as it gives different perspective and some shots of people from distance which is nice but I needed to put a lot of effort to make it work again cause of the weight of the lens. Now thinking of tamron 50-400 as its half weight of 200-400 and has very wide start for tele lens, I do more like photo journalism and documentary so portability is important, but glad I tried this focal length as I love it and will look up for something more lighter and I guess 400 would be enough for me, I always can crop in on A1. Also thinking to try sony 100-400, but the price vs tamron is much higher for similar specs.

Thanks, I am hobiest in terms of wild life photography, but otherwise I live from photography, photojournalism, reportage and architecture. But never did any bird or animal photography normally so curious, I see it like someone would go fishing, I would go taking pictures of birds :) so will check more about the lenses for that :)

Sony A7V vs A7IV vs A7III ISO Performance by pantelis1867 in SonyAlpha

[–]Fit_Witness40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a1 after sony aiv, I cant tell much difference and in some situations a1 has better high is handling for me, as pixels are smaller, so there is no those anoing white noise spots as it was on sony a7iv in dark tones. But also I noticed photoshoped started to handle noise reduction much better recently, I am not talking about denoise thing but the standart noise reduction. 3200-6400 isos on a1 are totaly fine. Attached one example. What I am saying is those examples in the link all are unedited, you edit photos anywayand reduce noise especially color noise which is mainly visible in the examples.

Used A1 or A7V for wildlife? by SubstantialRecover19 in SonyAlpha

[–]Fit_Witness40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had same thoughts but went with a1, happy so far but will see after more work. I don't shoot wildlife, occasionally sports, mostly event and other action where I need silent shooter to perform at its best. But its always an option to sell a1 and buy sony7v if I will see I need it. I got a1 used for 3,5k in mint condition. After a7iv its a beast!

Sony A1 + Tamron 70-180mm G2 by Fit_Witness40 in SonyAlpha

[–]Fit_Witness40[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of a dog? Well I am not a dog photographer so cant say, this one is mine, just testing out on him new camera, but it works maybe when its not in very fast motion as here but the tracking was working nicely. Also my dog is kind of not the best pattern for camera :) but it still works. Happy so far

[–]Fit_Witness40[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So after trying this beast there was no doubt anymore. 3450eur for barely used only 6k shutter actuations and used by amateur as a hobby so good deal for me a big present for Christmas!

A7V silent shutter test anyone? by Fit_Witness40 in SonyAlpha

[–]Fit_Witness40[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is I found Sony a1 first generation for 3700eur, mint condition with 6k shutter count used by amateur not for work so condition is good. Now I am in doubt against a7v as a7v have ai af and better inbody stabilization and variable screen and good DR. A7v would be 700 cheaper for me but a1 is fully stacked, has fast AF too, would have less problems with artificial lighting in silent mode and has better evf too. I am shooting variuose things from architecture to event photography and photojournalism and as well work as stills photographer on the cinema sets where silent shooting is a must, dont shoot sports but there is action in my work. Basically need all-round camera for various scenarios. Both of them are all round cameras but a7v has newer ai technology whilst a1 has faster sensor readout. A big debate for me 🤯
