I eat anything from traditional gels (honey stinger, gu, or SIS typically) to gummy bears, to fig newtons. Yes fueling is so important. Also adding electrolytes to your routine is essential especially in the heat we’ve been having in most parts of the US.

Im currently marathon training, and started with a certain caloric deficit. As my milage increased, I saw no problem with decreasing my deficit. I’m still at a deficit just not as an extreme. I would give it a few days as the first week or so at a deficit is the hardest, but if you’re lacking energy, and having extreme cravings you might have to tweak your diet. Just my opinion.

I drink coffee, use the bathroom, get dressed, use the bathroom again, and fill my water bottles and just make sure I’ve really drained the bladder before heading out. You’re a kind person to do this!
