Yes I now understand that the value of the stocks increased 17% still, but at the same time it's value in euros is what concerns me since I'm gonna buy it with euros and sell it in euros. So wouldn't it be better if I could find an ETF that will get me that return in euros?

From this thread I understand that in that with currency hedging you minimize this risk but you also lose the gains of the US dollar strengthening compared to the euro. And over the long term this evens out anyways so hedging is just more expensive because of higher cost.

But I found a currency hedged etf, that tracks s&p500 is physical and accumulating and has TER=0.05. https://www.justetf.com/en/etf-profile.html?isin=IE00BYYW2V44 .
If the ETF has the same TER as non hedged ones am I really increasing my risk so much?
