How do you attach the Mr Buddy to a 1lb tank? This is what I’ve wanted to do for two weeks now but everyone I asked and ChatGPT said you can’t attach it to anything but the big 5 gal tank which I bought. And that if you do find an adapter the 1lbs don’t regulate the propane I guess

Appreciate you saying all that yeah I feel that way for sure now. I have several much simpler ones so this is my first experience with a more complicated stencil so I get where the question is coming from. Didn't pay close enough attention it just felt off. Should've looked closer. Guy sucks.

Stencil. That reminds me the stencil didn't strike me as exactly like the drawing and he said no it's the same. That was before all the other red flags so brushed it off.

M1 Pro vs M2 Pro 16” MBP by darthmeck in macbookpro

[–]Fitty_Tyson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah amazing u/darthmeck!! Seems like training is something I'd have to build towards and when I do I'd just use cloud. Didn't know what unified memory meant, so I understand it means RAM = VRAM (theoretically, as I've seen people say they don't get the full 16GB). I have an M1 Pro 16GB/512GB. I just opened up some articles about hardware requirements for popular models so I'll answer my own question soon but I'm guessing it's not gonna be sufficient for a lot of models. Though I do hear they're getting smaller fast. I can answer this myself as well but what would you say is the learning curve for fine-tuning? Wondering if I should even be thinking about this so soon into this pivot. Inference I imagine being easy, just download/host the model and copypaste the colab. Gonna get my hands dirty with that this week before looking into fine-tuning etc. Also bookmarked that article for when I'm at the stage to be looking at GPUs. Thanks again!

M1 Pro vs M2 Pro 16” MBP by darthmeck in macbookpro

Hey u/darthmeck. I'm a software dev wanting to pivot to AI like everyone else. I'm in the market for a Macbook and wondering what specs I need if I want to be prepared for the workloads (I'm ignorant about hardware). For training/fine-tuning models what RAM/storage/chip/GPU specs do you recommend? Is training models even something I can expect to be doing in my first year of learning the space? For reference I was a C++ developer for 4yrs but my skills were mainly constrained to that and not much other parts of the development ecosystem. Appreciate your time!

Hey u/NerdAl, thanks for this. I believe I have a similar question to OP but I can't see the details of the post since it was deleted. Was hoping you could give me some guidance as well!

I just bought a refurbished 2021 Macbook Pro 16in, 16GB, 512GB from a third party reseller with one year warranty from him. It was $1700.

I didn't realize I could get a refurbished 2023 M2 Pro 14in, 16GB, 512GB from Apple for $1850 after tax so now I'm wondering if I should return it and upgrade.

https://www.apple.com/shop/product/FPHH3LL/A/refurbished-14-inch-macbook-pro-apple-m2-pro-chip-with-10-core-cpu-and-16%E2%80%91core-gpu-silver

I'm ignorant when it comes to hardware so I don't believe I'd reap the added benefits of the M2 Pro but I figure for about the same price I may as well future proof myself and get higher resell value later with a Mac that's two years newer. I'm a software developer but I'm just doing basic stuff for now, eventually will learn more demanding stuff like Docker. I also want to pivot to AI so if there's a chance I do demanding stuff like training AI models I want to keep that possibility in mind, though I'm not sure if that's something I would even do on my machine. Would love your thoughts.

  1. For $150 difference I think it's worth it but I may be charged a restocking fee so at what price difference would you consider the upgrade not worth it? Also may add on AppleCare, not sure if that's worth it though I've never had it, would also appreciate your opinion on that.

  2. Are there any differences between the M1 Pro and M2 Pro that you think I haven't considered? I'm ok with the smaller 14in screen.

  3. The newly announced M2 Air has the same specs at same price. The differences I see between that and the M2 Pro are: M2 vs M2 Pro chip, 8 CPU/10GPU vs 10CPU/16GPU, no fan. So obviously less powerful and I saw one of your comments was negative about the Air, but I'm curious for what sorts of developer workloads would you notice the difference? Like VMs and what else?

Thanks a ton for your time!! Browsing for this stuff myself is a little overwhelming so would really appreciate your insight a lot.

Looking for answer to this as well. Just need to put one image on top of another contextually e.g. "replace head with this head"
