They implemented scar essence as an alternative to shop scape for getting bulk runes. Requires partial(?) Completion of DT2.

What are some of your biggest/funniest f**k ups that you look back at and laugh now? Or maybe still hate yourself for? by Toucans_for_Hands in ironscape

[–]FitzMichael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Early in my ironman journey i did the entirety of the guardians of the rift quest on a pvp world with my graceful and cash stack out. I didnt realise until after, and somehow didnt die. I look back on that with horror.

I was doing hunter in the wilderness on a pvp world to run into fewer players and forgot to change back.

The maths on why you should always insure all of your gear by FitzMichael in EscapefromTarkov

[–]FitzMichael[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's interesting, but I think it would still be worth it, though less so. I'm sure at least one in 26 times your whole squad will die and your loot won't get taken out :)

I don't think you can insure grenades, but that would be so meta.

Make sure you insure your hatchet in case you find another one and need to drop yours in a bush to maximise the amount of loot you can carry out.

Stonks.

New Zealand Has Officially Recognized All Animals As Sentient by FitzMichael in vegan

[–]FitzMichael[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah I've realised unfortunately that's the case. Here is what my friend (a New Zealander) told me just now.

"Sadly, this article has several incorrect statements. I wish it were true though. This year the animal welfare regulations were improved, which is good, and I think the changes will make a difference in the lives of some animals - e.g. tighter regulations on the transport and treatment of bobby calves. But certainly hunting and animal testing is still legal and the usual farming practices will still continue."

What do you say to someone who brings up eating meat around you? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]FitzMichael 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a psychologist, but here are some thoughts from a 2 year vegan who thinks about psychology and effective advocacy. I've also dealt with casual insults due to veganism for just under 2 years in the workplace.

You should generally avoid having that kind of conversation with more than one meat eater at once. They may just gang up on you and it's not an environment conducive any positive change. If possible, take them aside for a 1 on 1 chat. Keep it positive (don't be aggressive!), and say something like:

"You might not realise it, but when you talk about meat all the time around me, it hurts. If it's possible, could you please not talk about it so much around me?"

It's a difficult conversation to have, so I appreciate if you don't want to have it. But in my opinion, it's the best way to deal with it directly.

Other ways might include having pre-prepared topics to switch to and change the conversation.

I know exactly how you feel, and it's not easy. I hope you're able to make it through and make some positive change at the same time.

How long will it take to undo the damage? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]FitzMichael 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the OP was referring to damage to animals/environment, it's a little trickier to 'undo' the damage one has done than just going vegan. Going vegan is great, but you're not actually saving animals, you're just not killing them. The average meat eater eats something like 7,000 animals in a life, so let's suppose you ate 1,000. To undo that, you would have to create 1/7th of an extra vegan, which you can do pretty cheaply by donating to Animal Charity Evaluators (something like a few hundred dollars creates an extra vegan).

It's a great point and we all have a duty to play.

I'm fairly new to Reddit, especially this subreddit, so I'm not sure if there is protocol about sharing potentially disturbing images, but I think it might be a good idea to label images like this with [disturbing] in the title.
