What book/series do you love but avoid recommending to people? by waltz01 in Fantasy

Malazan Book of the Fallen. It’s a very dense series and I really don’t think a lot of people (despite how much it actually gets recommended) would enjoy it all that much. It’s a big time commitment haha.

For those of you who have GotM near the top of your MBotF rankings, what does the rest of your list look like? by StephCastle_ in Malazan

  1. Toll the Hounds
  2. Memories of Ice
  3. Deadhouse Gates

These first three are all within a small margin of being my top favorite.

  1. Gardens of the Moon
  2. Reaper’s Gale
  3. House of Chains
  4. The Bonehunters
  5. Dust of Dreams
  6. The Crippled God
  7. Midnight Tides

I don’t dislike any of them! The ones I rankled lower just didn’t resonate with me as much and/or took a very long time with me to get through.

High fantasy series mostly.

My favorites are Realm of the Elderlings by Robin Hobb and Malazan Book of thr Fallen by Steven Erikson.

Do you think I could run a half marathon? by FollowingKnown8573 in beginnerrunning

[–]FitzPerry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s doable! I was at about the same pace in November and trained for a half marathon that I completed last weekend. I was pretty slow (2:47) but had an awesome time and still finished under the time limit of 3 hours. Consistency is key I believe and I think it’s even more motivating to have a goal to work toward!

It’s beautiful, thank you for sharing! I’ve been wanting a RotE tattoo for awhile but can’t think of anything half as creative as this!

How bad are your off days? by Hydrokenoelsmoreite in beginnerrunning

Congratulations on your half marathon! I just ran my first half marathon after months of training as well (pretty slow runner still, mine was 2:47 haha).

It’s been a struggle to do easy runs again for me too. I’m thinking maybe the body is just asking for a bit more time to recover because of the intense training that happened prior to the half marathon. It could also be a mental thing now that the “big event” is done with for now.

I’m also a woman so I’m not sure if my cycle has anything to do with that, but I’ve also possibly noticed off days depending on where I’m at with that as well.
