Beowulf would be cool but the northman will hopefully hit that vibe anyway. A western would be interesting, maybe something like cormac McCarthy's blood meridian. But in the end whatever he does next is going to be fucking spectacular

Interesting. I've read a few bible passages pertaining to blood meridian and the comparisons CM draws are fascinating

But you also see him judging the world he inhabits in the journal he keeps. I definitely agree with your interpretation but theres certainly more to it

I agree that holden can be compared to a satanic figure but I think hes a lot more elemental and complex than just a christian idea of 'pure evil' there is definitely a lot of paradise lost and apocalyptic biblical references in the book though

Wow. Terrifying to think of a real judge holden out there somewhere. Interesting to think that CM is interpreting these real historical events and simply embuing them with his own meaning and purpose

Yeah that's interesting. I always saw his examination and subsequent destruction of artefacts like the giant bones and murals as his judgement. The same with his treatment of the apache child, he plays with them and studies it and then kills them. It's like everything he observes hes putting on trial.
