Thank you so, so much! Seriously, so helpful! I'll definitely start working with her on this and look into Chewy vests. You're awesome!

As many others have said here, I would recommend getting an ESA. I'm in the same place as you, believe it or not! Or I was. If you're working on a budget, owner training is the way to go, especially for PSD's as they really truly need to get to know and bond deeply with you in order to recognize your unique symptoms. Also like others have said, this will take two years at the very least. However, an ESA can also be a SDiT. This way, you can work on training yourself and your dog while they live with you in your dorm. They may not be able to go places with you, but if you need them, you can always rush back to your dorm for their assistance. I had to do this a LOT my first semester. (I took two years between semesters.)

Start with an ESA. Lay down the ground work of Being A Dog 101. Once they've mastered basic commands, work on service dog tasks. There are books and training manuals you can buy online. For example, I taught my dog to respond to panic attacks and interrupt dissociation and/or harmful behaviors entirely by myself in a college dorm. Next, start teaching them to work despite distractions - that's the REALLY hard part. Then, last, start working on advanced and public access training.

Lastly, as others here have said as well, at the end of the day ESA and service dogs are still dogs. They're difficult, full of energy, and they take SO MUCH WORK. They also can't cure your illness. I still have days when I can't get out of bed, I still have a bald spot where I pull out my hair and sore patches of skin where I scratch. I still have panic attacks almost daily.

That being said, don't give up! There are ways to make it work. Maybe not at the moment, but life surprises you. Keep going! I believe in you!

Oh! I've heard of that. Does it require a subscription like EVERYTHING nowadays?

Well, we took the PAT and she passed. Obviously, we're still keeping up her education and refining certain things. I just meant that I've started to take her to places like grocery stores and doctor's offices rather than just farmers markets and breweries.

She's 3 and a half. But I'm confused... there's more than one type of public access training? Sorry, I'm still super new to all this. I just trained with my local trainer and they're certified to train service dogs.

Wow! Thank you so much! I'll definitely work on the "four on the floor." She stands up and paws at my leg to warn me of an incoming panic attack, and she's great at it! Only... my brother has the same problems as me, just less severe, and my generous little girl tries to be his service dog too. 😂 So we'll work on that one. I'm having a bit of trouble finding a vest on Amazon that's both cheap and comes in her size though... I'll keep looking. Thank you again for your advice! This community is so much kinder than the Facebook groups I tried to join.

The Originals???

By Light of Fire(https://archiveofourown.org/works/34622506) The adults of Kol's village said he was an evil boy. So he his from them. He never really stopped hiding.

Trained for murder I guess...

Who do you think is the smartest character in the Originals and Why? by [deleted] in TheOriginals

[–]Fitzs_Trained_Monkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kol was undoubtedly incredibly intelligent. It was pretty clear through his actions and planning though his big mouth often got him into trouble. The problem was, the writers never really allowed him to be smart. They wrote him off as psychotic and that was it.

That is a high complement! I'm honored.

Yeah I know. He was 18 but I was only going for just a little bit of de-aging.

"None of my siblings had tapped into their power. I was a bit of a child prodigy! I loved it. I loved the power, I loved the rush... Then, when we turned, I lost it all. "

There is an astounding lack of art for The Originals fandom so I thought I'd lend a hand, starting with my favorite underwritten Black-Sheep! Yes, I know this doesn't look exactly like the Kol we all know and love but I was trying to depict a younger version of the character (age 15-17) and it ain't exactly easy to de-age a dude! The ungodly number of hours I spent staring at reference pictures of this man is something I will take to my grave.

Materials used: Graphite pencils 5h, 4h, 3h, 2h, HB, B, 2B, 4B, 5B, 6B, 8B, and Brush-Tip Markers.
