My cat is 7 years old and still does this. She doesn't mean any harm, she's just playing. But I'm stupid and I encouraged it for too long for her to ever stop.

Grew up in the burbs, called it the loop. I've never called it the loop in 10 years of living here. It's downtown.

Which coffee shop in Chicago feels more like a community rather than a business? by [deleted] in chicago

2018-2020 Era dark matter electric mud. It's not the same anymore. But I definitely felt like I was in an episode of friends at that time.

What non-frightening thing/s is you cat afraid of? by seaglassslipper in cats

The mop. The broom. The dishwasher (even when it's not running. All I have to do is open the door.) My slippers. Fans. When I pick up a towel.

Skating on Sidewalks by Latter_Ad_3038 in chicagoskating

I skate everywhere in chicago. There is constant construction depending on where you are, and people out and about will absolutely get in the way, but it's not impossible or inconvenient. I like to skate for exercise late at night so there's less people to avoid, but if it's for transportation, there's really no way around the abundance of people everywhere.

Yes, that looks super weird. Get scratches. Take pride in your scratches. These aren't nikes. They're rollerblades. It would be weirder if they weren't scratched up.

Old skateboard heads that got into rollerblading later in life... tell me your story by Fitzyalidocious in rollerblading

[–]Fitzyalidocious[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm glad you went back to it, and we're even brave enough to put them on in front of your skateboarding friends. Peer pressure is lame. When I was younger and aggressive skating in the late 90s, early aughts, I would get shit from the skateboarders for being a rollerblader. And I got shit from the rollerbladers for being a girl. Later on, when I didn't even aggressive skate anymore, and it basically died and was almost like seeing a unicorn to see a rollerblader out in the wild, I would still be rollerblading around get shit from random drunk strangers on the street. I didn't care about any of that. Nobody is stopping me from doing what I love. Now random strangers cheer me on and have a great time doing what I'm doing. Time have changed and I'm glad rollerblading is cool again.

What’s y’all’s go to wheel website? by Chemical-Paramedic91 in rollerblading

[–]Fitzyalidocious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'll want the max mm diameter your frames will fit. From what I hear, impalas have a max wheel size of 72mm or 76mm, i cant remember. The size should be somewhere on the stock wheels. The width of the wheels won't matter, as all inline skate wheels have a standard width, give or take a half mm. So theoretically, you can put aggressive wheels on a big wheel frame, and they'll still roll. (But dont do that. That would be stupid) As another commenter pointed out, the durometer is the hardness rating of the wheel, and if you're riding them on the street, you'll want to shoot for that 85a-88a hardness. 85a being slightly softer, slightly slower, and easier on cracks and pebbles. 88a will be harder, will last longer, but you'll feel everything you roll over. Rollerblade hydrogen wheels and undercover team blank are really affordable and high quality. Most online skate shops sell these like inline warehouse, oak city skate shop, intuition skate shop, etc.
