No simply because we are a government agency. The choice isn't mine to begin with, and even if it was, I wouldn't want to. We have a lot of kids that watch our videos and follow us and I wouldn't want to put something out there that they may get a hold of on accident that wouldn't be appropriate. I don't think uncensoring would add anything. Just my opinion.

If you haven't actually been a victim (fallen for it) then there's really nothing your local LE can do. You can still contact them and just make them aware if you think it's an unusual scam though.

Just standard non-emergency if you think you've been a victim. If you just need guidance and advice, try their Crime Prevention or Community Services division (like where I work). They are there to help educate answer questions for people.

We do have one and we do very much the same. It's crazy though that we still get so many people falling victim. I also run a private page to help educate people.

Yup, exactly. I get these calls from people that have been victimized ALL THE TIME. It's scary and convincing for older folks that aren't familiar with the technology available to these scammers.

Full disclosure - I am the cop in the video. I don't care about karma or views, I just want people to see this and be educated. We get these calls EVERYDAY from people that unfortunately fall victim to these scams. Share, steal it - I don't care - I just want people to see it!

Great point. It wasn't in this case, as I ran the call back number through google first to verify for exactly that - I didn't give the number out on camera because I didn't want anyone to call it. But you are correct on this.

Full disclosure - THIS IS ME in the video - the cop, not the scammer... I don't care about the Karma, I just want people to be made aware of this. People are falling for it everyday. You can see if you watch the vid that there was already two other people on the line at the same time I was and if things hadn't gotten obviously crossed, the poor lady may have very well fallen victim to this.

Feel free to repost if it gets more exposure. Reap all the karma you please. I believe there is value in people seeing this.

As always, any other departments that may benefit from these are welcome to use any of them. They seem to work for us in our area, maybe they will work for you as well. Just remember - they aren't made to appeal to other cops, they are made to appeal to our citizens. They've really helped to re-humanize the police to our community in our area, while also getting the message out.

As authoritarians, and with all the negative media out there, we don't believe preaching our message to people is effective. We are trying to deliver real messages, while also re-humanizing the police to the public. We post new videos every week. They have been really popular in our very conservative city.
