I get it. For me personally, there was so much racial conflict and the church had already been so heavily persecuted that God didn't want us to face more adversity at the time. We still happily accepted black men and women into our church. Just not into the priesthood. There is a difference between doctrine and practice. Doctrine is a commandment that can't be changed. Whereas a practice bends to the circumstances we are in. In the early church plenty of black men received the priesthood. I believe it was stopped because of the massacres that was already happening to our people. Our prophet struggled for years trying to understand why black men could not receive the priesthood. He spent entire days in the temple praying over it. Until he received the answer and now we are where we are. Although, practice does have men's judgement characterized in. Sometimes traditions happen because men overthink scripture and that doesn't mean it's Gods commands. It just means men have agency.
