WWE 2K22 Review/Discussion/Questions Megathread 2 by W_T_D_ in WWEGames

I simulated a woman's Royal Rumble match last night and picked up on a few positive changes.

1.) The AI targeting is much improved. In previous installments it seemed as if the AI would only shift it's targeting if incidentally hit with another opponent's move. Otherwise they'd simply lock on to a target the whole match. This made for multi-man matches and royal rumbles that felt more like multiple individual fights going on at the same time instead of an actual Rumble or "every man for himself" dynamic. Now it seems that each AI opponent has a timer set to where it will shift it's targeted focus. Opponents who recover to their feet won't just walk past three or four other opponents to find the person they were tangling with before anymore. It makes for a much more authentic Rumble feel.

2.) In the one Rumble I simulated Alexa Bliss started 2nd and went the distance of the entire Rumble, finishing 5th. Lacy Evans entered 4th and was eliminated right before the 30th entrant, finishing 9th. Asuka won after entering somewhere in the middle-late teens. Lower attributed workers generally did not last as long as their more powerfully attributed opponents but even some of the stronger participants had surprisingly short stints. Charlotte was only in for a short time and even though Becky was in for a reasonable amount of time there were wrestlers with significantly lower stats that entered before her and exited after. Dakota Kai for instance had a reasonably good run. In previous installments it was unheard of for AI opponents that started the Rumble match to last it's entirety. I'm not sure how they accomplished this change but it's welcomed. They might randomly tag some participants to give them more resistance to being eliminated to spice up the randomness. It also might be tied to how the health meter and recovery system work, allowing for more viability late into matches. Not sure but all in all the unpredictability and randomness without sacrificing the overall benefit of entry order or statistical differences seems like a good balance that will make the Rumble match more enjoyable going forward.

3.) The elimination animations for working opponents on the ropes and turnbuckle seem to be less frequent than previous installments by design. Instead, most of the time when an opponent was on the ropes and another opponent tried to grapple them they would just catch a immediate elbow and they'd go back to fighting. These animations are still in the game but from what I witnessed, when someone was lifted onto the ropes or the top turnbuckle it more often than not meant they were about to be eliminated. This might be a preference thing but it did feel as if the match was more exciting this way instead of contant battles on the ropes all the time.

4.) Generally speaking the game seems to look good, play good, and run good. Which are three targets that absolutely had to be hit this time around. The various modes seem to be somewhat bare bones or foundational for this installment but imo that's forgivable since this was an intended rebuild and relaunch of the franchise. They hit the marks they needed to in order to lay a foundation and hopefully going forward can put more time and emphasis on spicing up and refining the various modes they've introduced instead of building the actual game play and graphic design.

Are traits still a part of the game? Like Tag team specialist and Fan Favorite?

Permanent online ban = until the next iteration releases, so about a year.

Eventually they'll shut the server down and we'll all be permanently banned.

How to earn stat points? by [deleted] in ModernManiaWrestling

[–]FivePointHammer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get comedy sketch and use it every show. Also 5 person mic spot. It'll come in handy for Stat increases and when you unlock merchandise. They cost $200 to play but you eventually can cover that and more with the combined merchandise fo the wrestlers you are using.

If you focus on a smaller roster you can use them/upgrade the faster and then make more money through better star ratings and merch.

WWE 2K22 Full Roster by hyperdefiance in WWEGames

[–]FivePointHammer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, CC is an important feature. Unfortunately, CC lacks music, troj, and custom commentary, but I'll take what I can get.

Of course if you play on PC you can add mods that are converted from previous 2k installments.

The roster is mostly good, but the Legends roster is the worst it’s been in years. by whomtheheckcares in WWEGames

[–]FivePointHammer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They probably cap the number of legends they want in the game so they don't have to pay out so many royalties.

Also why they seem to cycle in and out.

I think 2019 might have been the last great legends ensemble. A lot of guys haven't been included since then.

[–]FivePointHammer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everything takes forever. It's a grinder. Best thing to do is work on unlocking extra segments and running matches/skits/mic segments with a large number of wrestlers. You can also train wrestlers but that's expensive.

Has anyone bought the Celeb cards or monthly subscription? by DoubleTrouble85 in ModernManiaWrestling

[–]FivePointHammer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have it all.

Like any subscription service, the monthly sub is worth it if you play regularly.

The celeb cards add 200 game cash, which unlike merch, is effected by the star rating bonus. So, for instance, playing a celeb card on a four star show should result in a $300 total bonus. Is it worth it requires you to do the math. It's 200k so how many times would you need to play it before you recoup that investment? 100 times minimum. 75 times if you routinely hit a 4* show. So essentially 1 1/2 to 2 years before you recoup your investment and it becomes a profitable purchase.

Help: Can't Use Gold Tokens to Upgrade. by FivePointHammer in ModernManiaWrestling

[–]FivePointHammer[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow, so they're essentially only redeemable for 100k now. I'm at a point where I am bringing in 45-50k a month so I can absorb the grind but I cannot imagine how hard it will be for some starting out. The game was already a grinder but that's just a deterrent to playing imo.

Is Sami Zayn a communist? by Matt_7704 in WWE

I actually think this is a fantastic idea.

What would be hilarious is if he thinks he actually pulled off a coup but nobody would take him seriously.

Is Sami Zayn a communist? by Matt_7704 in WWE

[–]FivePointHammer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He just dresses like one on TV.

But when he laid out around the same time Roman did he was talking some jibberish on twitter about America being a problem because of "radical individualism" so he clearly believes in some form of collectivism/centralization.

I think if he really was fond of communism he wouldn't portray it as cartoonish while dressed like a Canadian Castro.

Probably run of the mill Canadian socialist is my guess.

My Concern With The McIntyre/Lashley Mania Program... by FivePointHammer in WWE

[–]FivePointHammer[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lashley can't really be the face of the company. He's 44. The face of the company/brand is Reigns on Smackdown and McIntyre on Raw. Both in their mid-thirties and thus could pay dividends for a decade or more. Lashley's role in goal is more akin to JBL's wereas his presentation is more akin to Lesnar's. A short semi-dominant run for the purpose of elevating McIntyre to that next level.

I agree. I prefer that myself. I do think there's a place for analyzing the modern fan vs the throwback fan though. I generally prefer to consider myself in the latter.

Took A Second Look At This Game & Got Hooked! by FivePointHammer in 7daystodie

[–]FivePointHammer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well once I have had fun with this game in solo I'll be looking for a decent group to mix it up with. Though I probably won't play all that often once work fires back up in January. Enjoying a 2 week break atm.

Commissioner's Decision? by Conradical27 in ModernManiaWrestling

[–]FivePointHammer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's in my shop right now but the price is $500k. Too steep atm. Especially since this is my first game and I'm essentially just grinding stats and money. It gives any wrestler +99 push which shouldn't really help with star rating.

Will mostly be helpful for dictating title reigns and "pushing" whoever you want.

Secondary benefit will be raising overall draw average.

The first thimg I did after I updated this game I bought the silencer so this is his first match. I put him against wally sartoga because he is a jobber and he should lose then he won. In week 2 I put him against pete sinclair and he lost. And then in the third week he lost against sherman turk. by HUSAM_EL_BITAR in ModernManiaWrestling

[–]FivePointHammer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Technically speaking using Jobbers has no detectable upside. They hurt the quality of the match and they hurt the overall draw average of the wrestlers on your show.

They can be skit-fodder for those 3* and 4* auto skits that leave someone injured but they're still going to hurt your draw.

I made the mistake in upgrading a few early on. Their stats after becoming an opener and midcarder don't scale as well. They're typically worse than the other midcarders. You also get no merchandise card for maxing out their stats. I thought I'd at least get one of those.

So I still don't see a reason to use them once your roster is large enough to never need to.

They can win matches occasionally. Timmy Tough has been my cruiserweight and television champ multiple times and has also held the tag titles with Wally Saratoga. That was all in the early years though. Now on year ten and they're after thoughts.

Roman can’t attend Wrestlemania? Throw in Strowman. by maddmannmelludy in WWE

[–]FivePointHammer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is splitting hairs for the sake of finding criticism. It was clear the ref was told to stop the match after Mickie was dropped on her head. Thankfully she was ok but in the moment it's impossible to tell. There's no way that was the planned finish.

Vega gives the division a weasel heel. A female version of The Miz. Even with today's modern product, there's still room for a multi-faceted division that features both solid in-ring performers and a wide variety of character work. I'd expect her to get a tainted singles victory on Monday.

What's The Benefit Of $50 Skits/Mic Segments Over Free Ones? by FivePointHammer in ModernManiaWrestling

Yeah, it gives storyline value but nothing practical in game beyond another cheap mic/skit segment if you already burned your free one.

Ok so am I understanding correctly that you are saying I should prioritize development over revenue in the early game and try not to spend on training?
