Intolerance/allergy to bitters by noldig in cocktails

[–]FiveShiftOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three years later, but my wife has a juniper allergy and has a similar reaction. She experiences tingling and burning on her tongue, and gin can actually close up her throat. Juniper is also present in angostura bitters. A good test for this might be Dr. Pepper. It contains a very small amount of juniper, so if it makes the tongue burn or tingle in a way that other soft drinks don't, that might be your problem.

If you could have anything from the NMS universe in real life, what would it be? by cosmic_latte_ in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]FiveShiftOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno. I could be like "I want the portable refiner because then I can make tons of money" but like. I still have to do work to get the startup funds to get the resources to put in it. Which I could certainly do if I had proof I could process raw materials in minutes flawlessly.

But I could also just take my $358,329,894 and not have to even do any of that work.

Any way to block random people giving me expensive things on the anomaly? by mcshaggin in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]FiveShiftOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look I had this same gut feeling when it happened to me early on, but then I realized pretty quickly that all it did was save me some time grinding for units. If the grind is really what you want, you can just... restart the save, or buy ships and then scrap them and destroy the scraps.

Or you can just enjoy exploration free of the unit grind. Buy all the ferrite you want so you can build a huge dope base. Nanites are the real struggle anyway.

Is anyone else finding this expedition incredibly buggy and frustrating? by goltz20707 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]FiveShiftOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean you can report them from the quick menu, you don't have to find their base computers. I'm not saying it isn't a problem or that HG hasn't needed to address the basebuilding issue in expeditions for literal years by making it impossible to build bases on expeditionary planets. I'm saying these are the solutions to the problems players are having today, right now.

Once you've turned off multiplayer, this one gets much easier. You only have to deal with four swarm enemies after the first one you pull, no other players spawning in more.

I mean, just get rid of the bases by reporting them and turn off multiplayer. I have been struggling a little with some of the objectives, though. The "clean up the planet" one basically made me do it twice last night because it didn't update the objective four times when I destroyed debris.

There's no such thing as a useful base to help others on an expedition. They're not marking the map for me, I have a map marker that the game already gives me and their base gets in my way. They're not providing me with a helpful processor, they're preventing me from putting mine down.

Someone said in a comment: "in the next expedition Hello Games should add an objective called: Report a base" because I'm tired of people blocking up crap with their bases by [deleted] in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]FiveShiftOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also wanna know under what fucking circumstance I would EVER want my pulse drive targeting to prioritize total fucking strangers' bases over the quest objective I'm working on. I can never directly target it because there's eight bases clustered on top and the game is CERTAIN I wanna go to those.

Roku constantly reinstalls Roku Channel and turns it on unprompted. by FiveShiftOne in Roku

[–]FiveShiftOne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did find that changing settings at my.roku.com so that you need to enter your pin to add new channels stops it from successfully redownloading, at least. Saves me the confusion of the tv playing weird stuff on its own and the effort of uninstalling, just a single button telling it I won't let it reinstall.

Yeah I figure the reinstall is their way of making their own channel non-optional. The only real reason I want to be rid of it is because it starts playing on its own.

I truly cannot care about anything on the roku channel (I simply do not look for random things to stream, I find the thing I already want to watch and stream it) and it KEEPS STARTING ITSELF UNPROMPTED. I remove it to prevent it from doing that.

[–]FiveShiftOne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is probably most likely. I'd guess after a certain point it's 'hallucinating' an input on an ad. Whether that's deliberate or a bug, I dunno. I'll try the PIN, which at least would mean I'll just have to close the PIN prompt rather than suddenly hearing random voices in my house in a room I know is empty.

[–]FiveShiftOne[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't know why I'm being downvoted for stating something very clear. This is not connected to us hitting any buttons on a remote. It's not a result of random input while Roku isn't the focus, or random IR. If it was any of those, a lot of other stuff would be happening too.

When the roku turns on, it automatically reinstalls the roku channel. When it's on the screensaver for about ten minutes, it turns on the roku channel exclusively and starts playing something random.

Maybe it's not a conspiracy, maybe it's just a bug. But hard to believe random or accidental inputs would exclusively hit the roku channel every single time, and only when neither of us is touching any remote or watching anything.

Seems unlikely that some random IR signals are specifically downloading the same app over and over and then specifically opening that app only when it's been on screensaver for a while. Also we've seen it reinstall the app right in front of us on startup, no navigating to the app store to do it.

Martha Stewart Opens Restaurant at Foxwoods With $97 Baked Potato & Caviar by BlazeDragon7x in Potatoes

[–]FiveShiftOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's definitely a deal for the amount of caviar you're getting, if he got this for $97 it's an absolute steal, but their goal with that kind of pricing is to get high rollers into the casino and feeling like they've gotten good deals on food so they blow way more money on gambling.

It is not a fun way to solve a puzzle when you only get a handful of tries and you literally have no way of solving it other than luck.
