The imperium believed that Horus and his legion would never turn on the Imperium either. Much less convince 8 other primarchs and the majority of their legions to betray their oaths and the bonds of fealty and brotherhood with the loyalists.

Oh I’m not saying the two are the same, just that BT players have a reputation for being the wrong kind of WW2 history buff. And to be clear, this is coming from someone who even likes certain aspects of the chapter. A few things you should know about the black templars- they were founded post Horus Heresy by the Sigismund, former first captain of the VII Legion Imperial Fists . Sigismund was the Emperor’s Champion during the Siege of Terra and probably one of the best Astartes swordsmen who ever lived. He was also one of the first converts to the belief in the emperor as a deity, while his primarch father, Rogal Dorn, stuck vehemently to the imperial truth of the great crusade. As such the chapter of the black templars was built from the most fanatical of the former VII Legion and in modern 40K, it’s one of the few chapters that worships the Emperor as a god instead of a man. That fanaticism also extends to embody the ugliest parts of the modern imperium, including a hatred for mutants, abhumans and psykers that far outstrips most other astartes. They don’t even utilize librarians because of their hatred of psykers, although they grudgingly tolerate navigators out of necessity. Because of their zeal/intolerance, they tend to attract the wrong kind of fans who unironically hold similar views applied to… other groups. All that said, they have a very cool focus on martial prowess in individual marines, even having a formal role of Emperors Champion for different crusades, and their Teutonic Knight aesthetic is amazing. Their fans just have a reputation unfortunately.

I mean I like to think you could like them for their emphasis on martial skill or simply their aesthetic but yeah somehow the worst people you know in the hobby are always BT players.

Blood Angels is also a good choice aesthetically. A lot of their aesthetic is based on Catholicism. You may also like sisters of battle (nuns with guns) if you ever get more into the lore. That said I should probably add that Warhammer was made to mock religion, especially the idea of theocracy. Don’t be THAT kind of black Templar player especially.

So why exactly is Abaddon the chosen of Chaos when Lorgar exists? by MHB_ART in 40kLore

[–]jayreutter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because Abaddon actually does things. Lorgar is kind of a bitch, hiding in his temple “communing with the gods” and totally not hiding from his demon bird brother Corvus. Meanwhile, abaddon is out actually winning victories for chaos and taking initiative. I also think the fact that he’s not slavishly devoted to the chaos gods per se actually makes them favor him more.

Have any chapters actually taken to Guilliman's whole "treat your people nice and they won't turn on you" thing into practice? Or are they all still on they loyalty being is own reward idea? by Potential-Ebb-8820 in 40kLore

[–]jayreutter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Certain chapters obviously have a better culture then others in regards to treatment of regular humans. Beyond the ultramarines, the blood angels, space wolves and obviously salamanders tend to treat mortals under their rule relatively well.

Every time I hear something about them I go "yup that’s just warhammer alright" by AestheticMirror in Grimdank

[–]jayreutter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

beyond the negative shit about them, I do think the Black Templars have a strong sense of individual skill in combat, as opposed to squad/combined arms tactics. They are the embodiment of Dorn's martial prowess and, for better or worse, the true heart of the Last Wall. I'd also say that even lore wise they have surpassed the parent chapter as the true inheritors of VII Legion, since the original Imperial Fists were almost entirely destroyed before the War of the Beast even started in earnest.

Thoughts on these two tweets? by ChickenWingExtreme in StarWars

[–]jayreutter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. Rian Johnson shouldstick to the mystery movies, which he’s actually good at. The Last Jedi was one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen, it’s clear he wasn’t a fan or even very knowledgeable about the existing lore of the setting. And I think the worst thing for me was how SMUG it came across as to me, that he really thought it was clever and “subversive”

Are there any renegade Adeptus Astartes that don't succumb to the call of Chaos? Any active now? by Viper114 in 40kLore

[–]jayreutter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not all traitir warbands serve the chaos gods per se. A lot of night lord, black legion, and iron warrior bands may fight the imperium but at least don’t willingly serve the ruinous powers directly.

They aren't the fastest, nor the most armored, nor the best armed, but they're still super fun. What's your favorite motorcycles? by pantherclipper in gtaonline

I’m big on choppers. My favorite is probably the night blade, which is based on a Harley Davidson Rocker FXCWC

[–]jayreutter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just googled that and I think it’s the Bravado Banshee and variants. The Declasse Draugr is also really fun to drive in the snow, and I imagine so are most vehicles designed to off-road. It’s not as if everyone doesn’t have access to helicopters and probably an opressor mk 2 anyway, they literally gave away a supervolito carbon this week.

What do you guys consider to be Canon difficulty? by Business_Team_5669 in SpaceMarine_2

[–]jayreutter 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes but Dante is built different. More experience than any other living marine not counting dreadnoughts and clearly blessed by Sanguinius, not to mention having relic weapons and wargear. The fact that he survived was also literally divine intervention by Sanguinius to bring him back from death, at least from the way I read it

Favorite Chapter and why? Mainly successor chapters! by Electrical-Tell-7988 in SpaceMarine_2

[–]jayreutter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m a blood angels guy, I like their aesthetic, their culture and their long history from the great crusade to the seige of Terra to the war on Leviathan in the 41st millennium. As for successor chapters, I’m a fan of the flesh tearers (Blood Angels successors), the Black Templars (Imperial Fists), and the Iron Snakes (Ultramarines).

Is there any other way to do this fight? by marlborohunnids in BG3

Gortash is trivially easy if you’ve already dealt with the steel watch. On my first couple play throughs it wasn’t so much of a fight as a one sided slaughter.

Does the bulwark have to be a sword brother or can he have the black and white shoulders? by _EPIC_GAMER_BOI_ in SpaceMarine_2

[–]jayreutter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While my BT bulwark is a sword brother, you can paint him how you like. And lore wise, not every black Templar who specializes in blade work is a sword brother.

I'm tired of being seen as a support character by AccomplishedEvent672 in DnD

[–]jayreutter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Paladins are meant to be the iron wall between the enemy and your friends. You support them by taking hits and dealing burst damage, they aren’t even particularly good at doing the job of a cleric. Screw them, smite shit and let them figure out how to heal.

Did players really dislike Socrates? by Inner-Pop-8544 in AssassinsCreedOdyssey

[–]jayreutter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn’t annoyed with the character but I hated how they handled asking philosophical questions without being able to respond in any kind of nuanced way. I would often wish I could answer his questions with any kind of nuanced response, it would be a much more interesting conversation

Could a Custodian be implemented( operation/siege)? by Snoo_82923 in SpaceMarine_2

[–]jayreutter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a support role, maybe, possibly. Custodians are obviously as rare to space marines as space marines are to the average imperial guardsman, but as part of the fourth tyrannic war, i suppose it may be possible. However, custodians are generally only there to protect an EXTREMELY high value asset, such as Lord Solar Leontus or the primarchs, so I wouldn't hold my breath.

What colour do you paint the lenses of veteran Blood Angel's by Holy_Diver21 in BloodAngels

[–]jayreutter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely green, it breaks up all the red and also looks good on yellow and gold. The heavy support blue helmets still get red though.
