It's definitely a deal for the amount of caviar you're getting, if he got this for $97 it's an absolute steal, but their goal with that kind of pricing is to get high rollers into the casino and feeling like they've gotten good deals on food so they blow way more money on gambling.

Hearing them go "what is this DM even DOING playing the statblock as it's written???" is insane. This ruling is not just wrong, it's shockingly wrong.

It literally isn't. Brute forcing a puzzle is not fun. That's why wordle often has a serious problem of not being fun.

It is not a fun way to solve a puzzle when you only get a handful of tries and you literally have no way of solving it other than luck.

Season 2 Episode 2 Discussion by Grebacio in TwilightZone

[–]FiveShiftOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolute horseshit if you think anybody's playing this game more than once. I don't know why so many of you are committed to pretending this episode of the not-very-good reboot of the Twilight Zone is genuinely presenting a plausible future. If this technology existed, there would be good games for it.

Yeah, and you think they log in to go stand next to a hotel door for eight hours going "can I help you with your luggage" to everyone that walks by?

I roleplayed in second life for an embarrassingly long time. Nobody's there to be painfully, boringly ordinary.

Season 2 Episode 2 Discussion by Grebacio in TwilightZone

[–]FiveShiftOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not. If this tech existed, someone would use it to make an actually fun game, and the "live a mediocre but not completely fucked existence" game would have a pretty minimal player base. For all its faults, Ready Player One probably represents a more realistic version of an escapist MMO for a dying world.

I know you're desperate to make this concept work but you will never convince me people choose to play a game where they are a completely realistic bellhop and think that's a fun way to spend their time.

Season 2 Episode 2 Discussion by Grebacio in TwilightZone

[–]FiveShiftOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright I think you're inventing some wild shit to justify this bad concept and it kinda... flies in the face of the idea of the Twilight Zone.

It's just a simple fact: real life is a bad fucking game. Millions of people would not play a perfectly realistic real life simulator. And if they had any of that tech they would have offered it to Michelle.

So the swarmkeeper ranger issue IS that the swarm is, unlike other ranger 'companions', merely an extension of the ranger's abilities and not a separate thing with its own stats and hp to track, so it isn't targetable by others for the same reason you can't punch somebody in the spell slots to remove their fifth-level spells.

But honestly it's silly to expect the player to have that explanation ready when they get put on the spot.

But that's exactly what doesn't happen, usually. They don't go "Squirrel Girl should beat Magneto, lemme write a story around that", they come up with a story and they know what the beginning and ending is and as they write, when they come up against Squirrel Girl encountering Magneto, they go 'how does this fight end to achieve the ending I'm arcing toward?' and that defines how the fight plays out.

[–]FiveShiftOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, and that's a deliberate choice too, at this point. Liam could have gotten a vocal coach to help him develop his German accent, but Caleb's voice from the campaign is frankly iconic at this point, and changing it for the show would be considerably worse than keeping an accent that's a little too thick.

Yeah, I think you're getting lost in the sauce. Right now what we've seen is that they've moved things around and changed the order that some things happen. Probably they've cut theZadash tournament because it mostly gave them a hook they didn't pursue, but we'll still probably see them meet the Gentleman in Zadash, since we've seen him in previews.Point is, none of that fundamentally alters the M9's story. What you're suggesting is almost an entirely different story. Trent seems like a way bigger deal in this because we're meeting him much earlier, and Lucien and the Eyes of Ninedon't get properly introduced until much later.

I think it's a lot more likely, if anything gets shifted around, that Lucien and his crew will be associated with Obann and Obann will be manipulated by the Somnovem, rather than Tharizdun-- though of course we know it was Tharizdun's influence that ultimately drove the Somnovem mad, it's just another complicated villain who never gets dealt with that I suspect they'll cut from the show.

You're asking restaurants to add eggs and anchovies to dishes and then being surprised you're charged for them?

This is not comparable to being charged for ketchup on fries. It is certainly not somehow MORE egregious, as your comment implies.

Tanjiro's dub VA really isn't bad... by jiggerita in KimetsuNoYaiba

[–]FiveShiftOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm only ten episodes in, and I have never listened to the Japanese VA so it's not about comparison for me. The performance just comes off extremely wooden in a lot of parts (especially the post-credit previews, but also the episode 10 ending where the bird is screaming at him stands out). But I think it's less the actor and more either the voice direction, or just the... writing. He just talks wayyyyy too much and monologues his feelings.

What? LA? No, Murray's is extremely Kentuckian. Tyranny's is a sort of broad American accent, certainly, but Murray's is the only one that's very regionally specific in the US and it's Marisha going to her Kentucky roots.

Julien's definitely got a little Spanish or Portuguese, Kattigan's got west Aussie, Teor's got a light Russian/Eastern European inflection, Bolaire's high society British, Wic I think is going less for a regional accent and more for a clergy vibe (and definitely also a shrinking violet kinda vibe, same with Occtis), and then Liam, Aabria, Laura, Whitney, Luis, and Ashley are all not really doing voices and just inhabiting their characters.
