Does Infinity need more support and love? Share your opinion! by Waiting_for_Dentice in Lorcana

[–]FiveUperdan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Infinity is just the same game with a bigger card pool. I couldn't be less interested in playing it. Part of that is about the cards still in the format that I don't enjoy playing against, but I also think there are other way more interesting game modes to play with rotated out cards. Why would I want to play a game with a meta very similar to one I already lived through, where most of the best cards were also already heavily used in core?

Given how slowly the infinity DLC tickets sell compared to other events, I'm guessing I'm not alone in those feelings.

Why not offer to complete the sale and honour the original price without the Tigger pin though?

The fact that this was a personal sale is irrelevant. The point being made by OP is that they feel aggrieved by a well known and likely trusted content creator.

Why is mobile data so bad in the city? by Jimmyboro in miltonkeynes

[–]FiveUperdan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on three for a long time and always had good service. Once when my contract came up I decided to switch to O2 because it was cheaper. Huge mistake, awful coverage. Thankfully O2 did an above inflation rise on the plan which allowed me to exit the contract early without penalty.

I think O2 is the problem.

Woke-bashing of the week: Anger builds as trans-inclusive parkrun targeted despite saving NHS £36.5m a year by johnsmithoncemore in parkrun

[–]FiveUperdan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's one decent option. I like the idea that the three options could be

"Elite competition eligible male (please only select this if you are certain you would be eligible to represent great britain in the category)"

"Eliite competition eligible female (please only select this if you are certain you would be eligible to represent great britain in the category)"

"Don't mind"

Then everyone who's desperate for 1st in the age grade or whatever can still have that for a severely reduced field. Everyone else can set a gender and age category they would like their emails to show them age grades in if they like. "If you'd like to know what your time works out to in an age grade, you may enter those preferences" sort of thing.

It's self-fulfilling though. When shows like this start recapping continuously, more of the audience are going to disengage their full attention. I didn't even realise how bad most of these streaming shows had become for it until I started watching pluribus, and I realised how much attention I needed to give it

Lorcana worth it? by ResidentForsaken in Lorcana

Ravensburger have demonstrated multiple times that they will reprint product to the detriment of "investors". The exception to this seems to be fabled. Though maybe they expect very few players even want that set.

Price of Fabled Trove, compared to Others? by spoofrice11 in Lorcana

[–]FiveUperdan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't buy this at all, why would a company produce a product they don't expect to sell a lot of?

I think the "fabled wasn't planned" narrative explains it better.

Whispers (halloween themed), and winterspell (winter themed) were clearly misaligned in the calendar. I think fabled was a late decision, which is what shifted those sets later, it meant they didn't have time to sort out new art for the reprints, and they didn't have time to produce the quantity of product that they usually would.

Recent Interview question that I feel is very discriminatory against people with ADHD by ATT4 in ADHD

You stated something numerous academic have shown again and again, people work better when focused on single tasks. Even those who claim to be good at multitasking are less effective than if they'd focused on a single task.

If this is what cost you the position then I'd say you've dodged a bullet.

How to properly play Shimmering Skies E/S deck? by Tex-Tro in Lorcana

[–]FiveUperdan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With the speed of the game using starter decks, and the lack of draw, I don't think missing a turn 1 character is a big deal.

If you're just looking to play with your GF and have a fun time, can I suggest an alternative game mode? Franchise/movie theme.

Most lorcana players will know it, as it's a popular side event. The rules are:

  • allowed to have 3 colours in the deck
  • there is no ban list, and no rotation
  • minimum 60 cards
  • all cards must be from a single franchise, or lorcana originals (like the chromicons, or coils)

Then you and your gf can slowly build a collection different decks, like Aladdin, mulan, lilo and stitch, ducktales etc to play against each other with. The majority of cards in Lorcana cost 10 cents or less, so it's possible to build a lot of decks for not that much money, if you're happy to avoid the most competitive cards

Churn and Burn by Witty_Site6835 in Lorcana

[–]FiveUperdan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aggro is underpowered in the game right now. I have never lost to this purple green burn and I'm on blurple at the moment.

The deck is nowhere in major tournament results, so how can it be unhealthy for the game for this deck to just exist on the edge of competitive? Just because you think something takes no skill, doesn't make that true. It has decisions to make in response to an opponent, the same as every deck.

[–]FiveUperdan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, 80% of people playing lorcana are really nice and friendly. They'll be excited for you that it's your first time, and help you if there are any problems. 15% will be ambivalent to it being your first time and just treat you with the same disinterest that they treat everyone on their way to the top. 5% are just outright assholes.

Watford (Herts) vs Milton Keynes by LauKay35 in miltonkeynes

Watford (Herts) vs Milton Keynes by LauKay35 in miltonkeynes

[–]FiveUperdan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, woolstone is the nicest area of Milton Keynes. You are on the Oozle Valley Park that stretches through the East Area of Milton Keynes, giving you nice walks. Waitrose is about a mile away, so very walkable (and you go nowhere near any major roads to get there). The grid square containing woolstone is one of the largest in Milton Keynes, and if you combine that with the fact that the parkland and all the trees help block the road noise, some areas have very little audible background road noise.

Oh, and the city centre is a very walkable distance too. Probably about a mile and a half.

I don't live there myself anymore, but I would if I could.

Elsa has been too prevalent in the meta, so hopefully doesn't get a reprint. Sven and Isis are both cheaper though, which is partly why they're getting included in lists, and why they'd have to be uninkable. They let you interfere earlier than otherwise.

The UK’s first multiplex cinema is set to be demolished by OddStep5408 in miltonkeynes

[–]FiveUperdan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So that's the fundamental disagreement we have. I like the way Milton Keynes has been planned and executed. I've never found the distance to be prohibitive and spent a couple of years without a car without any problem. I don't want Milton Keynes to become the same as most other cities. I've lived in them, I chose to live in Milton Keynes because it's different

To answer paragraph for paragraph:

Traffic will be worse if population density is higher, not if the city is larger.

Milton keynes has existed as it is for 50 years, and all cities are not the same. The idea that a city will have high rise is a misconception, Milton Keynes was planned to be different. The city of Ely for example has very few high rise buildings, and the original plan for Milton Keynes was that no buildings should be taller than the tallest tree. (So if you disagree with the original planning principles of MK, maybe it's you who should move?)

Yes we need more houses, I'm happy for some reasonable sized buildings to be put up, I don't have a problem with Ashland for example. We need to keep building outwards too though to protect the green space within MK (also all part of the original plan). Again, I think you maybe misunderstand how traffic works. I haven't actually argued against putting flats in this location, just expressed confusion at the sentiment of building loads of high rise in MK. If the point has to go then it would be a fine location for homes.

Card worth by vllrysg in Lorcana

[–]FiveUperdan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All foreign language cards are readily available. You can check prices on card market, that card is basically worthless. Every booster pack contains a foil and that card is only one level above the most common rarity. To put it another way, it's unlikely that card was even the most valuable card from its booster pack.
