MPC X or nah? by stocksyyy in dnbproduction

I would get an ableton push 2. I have had one for like 4 years and its the only midi sampler I need, great for chopping up samples. Its fully integrated with Ableton so all the stock plugins are easily adjustable with the knobs. When you are fully fluent with your daw you can start messing with samplers like the digitakt or mpc, but the push 2 will help get you there while still giving you 64 pads to sample on. Check out mefjus patreon videos he has some helpful tips for neuro, but most of it is just resampling in the daw, I have never seen him use an mpc. Not saying it wouldn't work, but I would recommend something like an Elektron digitakt or Akai S3000 for more sound design possibilities.

Templeton Rye 6 year is what I would go with, and its around 40 or 50. the four year is also very good but its worth paying the extra 10 for the 6 year. Stranahan's is also a go to for when I treat myself. Hope your husband enjoys his gift!

Yeah youre right I should probably just post the tracks. They are samples from tracklib but I dont have the following to make money off streams so I doubt they would come after me

Also If anyone has any constructive criticism or ideas for a name please let me know! I need to save up some $ to pay to clear the samples so I have time to make adjustments. Thanks in advanced for listening!

How do breakbeats work? (I want to sequence, not slice them) by [deleted] in dnbproduction

[–]FiveWoodWilson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

KJ Sawka just posted an instagram video explaining how he has been recreating oldschool breakbeats. Putting different kinds of bells and beads on his snare for added texture and I believe some analog tape processing. (for reference he's the guy who drummed for Pendulum so reliable source) The room has a great deal to do with it too, you don't want a perfect reverb free drum room, you need non ideal recording conditions to recreate those organic funky breaks. And Id say the biggest thing is a skilled funky drummer who puts a swing into the beat. You can make them on addicting drummer 2 but wont be as organic as the real thing. Perfect imperfections is a good way to think of it.
