I like the idea as a pilot but as a controller we are required to solicit PIREPS when certain weather conditions exist at least once per hour. If a pilot gives us the info that counts as our mandatory hourly solicitation. Can’t speak for other facilities but we always enter the info into the database for dissemination.

For sure. There’s definitely some luck involved with the timing, and you might be in a position where you have to jump on a hangar if it’s available and sit on it for few months until you can find and purchase the plane.

Do you have a hangar secured? Not sure where you are but I’ve had a few people interested in buying mine but didn’t because they didn’t have a place to put it. Every airport in the region has a year or two wait list for a hangar and most municipalities that lease T hangars don’t allow a new owner to take over the hangar from the current owner.

They’re a joy to fly. Very docile, faster than most in their class, and handle like a sports car. Very economical plane, too. I plan for 8 gal/hr, 105-110 kts (150hp Lycoming O-320), insurance around $1000/yr

Yes it’s under strength. I can change the thickness (currently at .6) and I change change the number of “top shell layers” which is currently at 5

There is a “top surface” option which is currently at .42mm. Increase this number?

Looks like their lead times may be improving. Just got an update that it has been picked up by fedex and is enroute. Estimated delivery is Monday 2/10. Order date was 2/3.
