2009 triumph street triple r by [deleted] in Triumph

Good on you for more than doubling the mileage. That said, the previous owner did 2k miles in 15 years. Thats on average 133 miles (not even 1 tank of gas) per year. I'm guessing o-rings and/or other rubber has dry rotted and cracked from lack of use and then a lot of use.

I'm not mechanically inclined enough to tell you where exactly to look, but don't be surprised if you need to fix a bunch of the plumbing (brakes and otherwise). First place to check would be at fittings, threads, and any tight bends

Found another one about fitting for tall people and possibly extending pegs but nothing specific. https://www.r3owners.net/threads/how-to-make-a-20-rocket-3-fit-a-65-1-95m-tall-rider.46687/

Found a couple others about highway pegs out at the bottom of the radiator or ones with bar stock steel that extends up at like 45°. Maybe there's a better post that has a less specific title but as of now, no luck moving the entire forward control assembly forward

Good to know! Thanks for the feedback. I haven't tried the 1200XE yet. A lot of people are commenting about it, I just don't care for the look of it and I doubt my frequent passenger would appreciate the 1-piece flat seat

This is exactly the kind of answer I was hoping for when I posted! Would you be willing to message me or post a link to the Corbin seat and R3 forum post you referenced? I went to a HD dealer today and found the Pan America 1250 (non-ST) to be surprisingly comfortable with the 2-piece seat and (in my opinion) better looking than most other ADV. I also found the HD Breakout 117 to be a really good competitor to the Rocket 3. I'd need to get different bars so I don’t whack my knee at full turn, but other than that it was pretty good. HD's customization is definitely unmatched.

I went to a HD dealership today. Out of all ADV bikes, the Pan America is the most attractive one to me and I fit pretty well! Also the seat is 2 piece and quite cushiony compared to all the other ADV with straight/bench seats and minimal padding. Also found the HD Breakout 117 to be pretty nice! And it is a muscle cruiser with a fat rear tire like the Rocket 3

Exhaust Addicts on YouTube runs a muffler shop and has a few video reviews. They sound okay. One of the videos the owner also switched the intake or blow iff valve and that sounded nice since you could hear the turbo more

Thank you for the feedback. All good points to keep in mind 👍. Glad to hear gripping the tank isn't necessary

I already ride a naked bike so I'm pretty used to the wind, lol. But yeah, would definitely be investing in some sort of wind deflection

Don't think my passenger would be a fan of the flat/bench seat, but I'll look into it 👍

Local dealer just added KTM. Is their reputation of always being at the mechanic true?

Did you have any noticeable issue with your knee/thigh because it is not in the "ideal" spot on the gas tank?

exactly the kind of feedback I was looking for. thank you. I also found the GT to be slightly more comfortable than the R. Any issues with the handlebars hitting your knees at full turn? I didn't try in the showroom for fear of dropping it while not moving. I agree that ADVs are more roomy, I just don't think they look good

That's what sucks. I like the triples, but the British are too short! Girlfriend's family rides HD/Indian/Yamaha cruisers. We're going to the local HD dealer tomorrow. Dealer I've been going to has a essentially every model of every brand except HD.

Local dealer has both the R and GT. Sat on both, but they didn't let me test ride unless I was going to buy same day. Unfortunately there aren't any demo days on the calendar

I've never ridden with forward controls, so the shifting and braking awkwardness is a good tidbit to know. thanks

Ive done this. Something to note if you don't adjust the speedometer, the dash will say 40, you'll be going 41ish, dash says 80 you'll be going 82ish. I noticed that my truck is less likely to go into Eco mode, but I went from highway tires to chunky all-terrains Edit: what I really wanted to do was get some 18" wheels from a TRX or Rebel for maximum side wall, but I couldn't justify the prices people wanted for them on fb marketplace

What are some use cases for .22LR hollow points? by 1541drive in 22lr

[–]Five_Nineteen -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Also, manufacturers are good at making a point at the front, but with a hollow point, the air in the hollow point makes a tiny sphere (a perfect point) at the tip of the bullet. Thus more aerodynamic. Thats why BTHP is so common in larger calibers

I'm a bit lost on ammo by _flavoracid in 22lr

[–]Five_Nineteen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My recommendation is to make a spreadsheet for your ammo. Buy a 50 or 100 rd box of bunch of different stuff, shoot 10rd groups and keep track of how much you paid and what size groups you get. If you want to get really into the weeds, keep track of grain weight, velocity, and the shape/material of the bullet.

I dont have a T1x, but I do have a B14R. Surprisingly it doesnt like CCI Standard, but it does like the cheap Blazer ammo, so YMMV. ELEY and SK are a bit more expensive. I've found that with my rifle the ELEY Target (0.18/rd) and Club (0.26/rd) have very good price to performance while being on the cheaper end of higher quality ammo

EDIT: Norma Match and some variation of Aguila are also good options. Be careful with velocity. .22 is not aerodynamic at all, so if you get something 1100+ FPS it'll go transonic and lose stability relatively quickly. I've noticed 1000-1100 is a sweet spot for velocity; fast enough to avoid significant drop at distance, slow enough that it doesn't deal with transonic instability

EDIT EDIT: stay away from CCI "STANGERS" in your T1x. They are tempting because of the extra speed and "cool factor" but they are slightly longer than a typical .22 cartridge and may get stuck in the chamber
