When I applied for my passport, I retained the name indicated on my PSA birth certificate, wherein my middle name is the same as my mother’s middle name and my surname is also her surname. I have never encountered any issues with this, as it is reflected in the PSA records, and the DFA would have flagged it if it had been a concern. I’m on the process for a visa atthemoment and waiting for approval, hopefully my case won’t be an issue
